I recently removed 35 pounds of live rock and am liking the open look, as are the inhabitants. For size reference, the halemeda algae cluster is the size of a basketball, it came out of nowhere about 4 months ago and has really taken off. I've had the moon brain coral on the sandbed for about 5 years and is the size of a volleyball when fully expanded. Unfortunately about a year ago, I lost all my fish except for my dusky wrasse. A friend was breaking down his tank and gave me a strawberry psuedo that was diseased. I lost a show sized hawaiian male Naso, show sized powder brown tang, hippo tang, yellow tang, 2 percs, and a copperbanded butterfly. I had the powder brown for 5 years and have not seen one that compares yet.

It's a Dusky wrasse, sorry for the bad pics, I just have a cheap kodak camera. Hard to get a good shot of the fish as they are so active. I bought the tank from an lfs owner and the Dusky wrasse came with it. I probably wouldn't have bought this wrasse, but it's growing on me. I can put my hand underneath this fish and bring it to the surface.

anybody have luck with an emporer angel in a reef?

im not too sure on this and anyone correct me if im wrong, i to have thought of this one as well, anyway, to my knowledge the emporer angels will nip at your soft corals such as zoos, and possibly the frogspawn in your tank. what i was thinking about doing is trying to have a sps tank full of montipora caps and things of this nature. I dont know if this would work but im definitly sure that you will be losing some corals if you add this fish, its a shame because this fish would make such a nice addition to a reef tank, i guess we cant have the best of both worlds in this hobby
