I like the coral hogfish! They have one at the LFS! Hes more purple/darker so i think that pic (SWF) is of a younger fish!

Beware the shrimp eating capabilities!

I like that fish! I say go for it, but just add one. I might be wrong, but I think in smaller tanks they do best singly. Also, I wouldn't put fish like a dottyback or wrasse with them as their may be aggression issues.

I don't have any shrimp in the 54G.......so Krista.....the site says minimum tank 30G.....this is for the 54G.....and you think only one would be okay?????
I think BLTD has some of these...maybe

I just did a quick search and this is what I found on the first site (I copied it):
It does not feed on most desirable invertebrates, although larger individuals will harass delicate shrimps or larger shrimps that have just molted. The Twinspot Hogfish prefers deep-water habitats, but will readily acclimate to more intense illumination.
It does get more aggressive toward other fishes as it gets larger, and big adults are especially prone to picking on other wrasses (e.g., flasher and fairy wrasses). Keep only one per tank.

Everything I'm reading is saying docile as juvi's, but what happens when it reaches adulthood? Aggression....

I have a concern about the flame hawk and the twinspot. They both like crevices and deeper waters. There might be some aggression issues.

I wouldn't be too worried. The twin spot Hogfish (aka candy Hogfish) is actually a wrasse and behaves a lot like a flasher or fairy wrasse does. He'll swim all over the place while the flame hawk just perches. I would add the Hogfish first though. My Hogfish thinks he belongs to my anthias harem, it's quite amusing. They're a great little fish and I'm not sure why they're not more popular. AquaKnight turned me onto them. Mine swims all over the tank, and hasn't even noticed my shrimp, even the harlequins. He's very peaceful, and I know others that claim the same thing.
Only other fish I'd consider would be a small Blenny, because, you know, every tank needs a Blenny.

How long have you had yours? The issue is when they are adults. They get bold and mean as they age.

Mine has been in this tank for about 6 months, and is an adult. I know a few people that have had them for years with no issues. They get bold if they're the toughest fish in the tank. Mine gets bossed around by my yellow Coris wrasse. I think the flame hawk would keep him in line if he were to try to get aggressive. They really don't act like typical Hogfish.
