Russia Threatens Poland! (with nukes)

Ive never heard such precarious statements coming so quickly and bluntly out of a country before. What are the repercussions for Russia for such statements? I heard sanctions, getting thrown out of the G8. We need to strengthen and enlarge NATO as well!

Not a good development, but what did you expect after the annoncement of the US/Poland Missile defense agreement...

Holy crap! Russia's taking over! Thank god Bush is pres. so mabye we will fight back. If obama becomes pres. then we wouldnt even fight back if we were directly attacked.

you really want us to fight the Russian Federation? If we fire one bullet at the Russian Federation all hell might break lose, war is horrible. and with the Russian Federation Nukes might be launched. and if we do go to war i say all republicans are drafted first, and honestly if we did go to war with the Russian Federation i would most likely leave the country, (probably to Canada first, then apply for citizenship in Australia). I have a feeling bush will go down as one of the worst presidents ever, even worse than Reagen.

Probably want to choose somewhere else to run too. Canada is a member of Nato and we have a similar treaty in place with the Aussies. You'd find little comfort from either of those Nation's for desertion.

the USA doesn't have missiles stationed in Australia, therefore the Russian Federation wouldn't attack them because it would be senseless killings, but I will agree Canada probably isn't the smartest place to move to. so instead of Canada we would probably go to south America.

Come November, let's not forget which political candidate has said he would cut funding to the missile shield... "I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space...."

yeah cause Obama isn't dumb enough to attack the Russian Federation, war is not the solution to every conflict. but i do agree with you on we need a defense system against nukes, both candidates have there pros and cons

You sound like the kind of person who would slither off rather than take a stand. Stalin and Hitler came to power thanks to your ilk.
Bush will have a very long way to go to surpass the peanut king as worst president in history.

We are not the ony allies of Poland. Nor are we the only allies of Georgia. Poland and Goeorgia are allies. Attack one, get both. Why do you think Poland is so scared right now? Their ally was just invaded. Several former member states of the old Soviet Union are scared to death that there is about to be a major hostile invasion of former Soviet states. While the Soviet Union may have dissolved, the communists did not pack up and move to North Korea. They are still there and are very powerful. Same dog, new name.
This would certainly not be the first time Poland was on the spearpoint of world war.

So Russia invades Georgia and is threatening Poland and Ukraine. Does this seem a little familiar? I hope the Euro's have learned from history at long last.
Keep in mind Russia's little exercise where they placed a flag on the ocean floor under the north pole. Could a claim of title to the pole be in the future?

If Russia isn't slapped back right now all hell is going to break lose. The Europeans hold the key. If they stand up to this now it doesn't have to come to an armed conflict but it has to be made perfectly clear that is a option.

The Russian Federation doesn't want weapons next to its borders, its the same thing as when The Russian Federation wanted to put nukes in cuba

A missile defense system can hardly be compared to ballistic nuclear missiles.

The Russians have wanted these states back since they left. They are looking for excuses to take them back by force and punish them for leaving in the first place. They lost face and want some satisfaction.

even if we take your opinion (and it is a valid opinion, don't get me wrong) why should we give The Russian Federation a reason to attack?

Reason will be found whether or not we assist our allies. Reason was found to invade Georgia. In their eyes it will be justified. Even if we do no more than stand back and watch. We stood back and watched Hitler roll tanks into Poland. Doing nothing only makes it harder in the long run. If more countries had run to Poland's aid millions of lives could have been saved.
