Ya... probably a bigger nicer one. I try not to think of how much money that actually is.
That doesn't make me "rich", BTW. I'm am a very average person here in California.....

They can be a pain, for sure. That's why we made a beeline for the neighbour to ask. They said they stopped having meetings because no one went. It seems peeps in the area have it pretty together and are proud of their homes (while being on the same page of what looks nice). Every single house was awesome.
The lack of "greenage" is suppose to be "green". I live in California... land off the tree huggers..... no grass... no lawn watering... less depletion on water resources. *rolls eyes* I'll install new eco bulbs and am looking into solar power.... but I need grass.
HOA's are either heaven or hell. In Colorado we passed on some good deals simply because of HOA's. Lot of horror stories here. Cal has had them for so long that the laws pretty much keep them in line. As long as the HOA fee if any isn't outragious they aren't too bad.
Even so if you get jerks running them they are a pain. I remember one guy who had the porch light blow off his condo. The closest thing he could find to what was there was about 6" higher than the original because of the mount. The association made him hire someone to come in and cut a new hole and lower the lamp so it was level with the rest. The cost him a couple hundred back in the mid 80's.

I'll be buying a "nice" 1900 sqft house with 6000 sqft concrete lawn for the same price...... that seems SO wrong on SO many different levels.

God will.
He has been doing so for a very long time. When he wants a break he sends them to folks like you for a while.

I like Squirrels too
My dog chased one in a few years ago. The thing took up residence inside the back of my recliner. I have a bum hip and cant sleep on a bed so I end up sleeping in the recliner most of the time. So I thought the little beasty had ran out the door after I had cleared out the dog and left the door open for a couple hours. That night I am just about falling a sleep I hear/feel this scratching inside the back of the chair, the critter was still inside. Figure what the heck, hope he doesn't have the plague or something. Next morning I took the back off the chair and set it outside for an hour. Dang Squirrel still wouldn't leave. I have to use a reacher stick to grab a hold of it and pull it out. It got loose and jumped on the back of the chair and looked at me for a minute. Then he jumps off the chair and starts heading for the door. Had to make a hockey shot with the reacher stick to keep the little furball from running back in the house.

There's something about them, isn't there. I know they are a flea-laden rodent but DANG those cutie eyes.
I think even the hardened folk would have to smile a little as a squirrel cam up to them to say hello.
The Beagle was like... whatever....

I'd be afraid of the consequences if I missed.
We kept smelling skunk every morning. Finally like 5pm I see one in the neighbours yard. I was like "There's the little bugger!".... then I saw 6 more follow.
One skunk had been mauled and killed by a racoon... we had 5 of those in our trees.
You'd think I lived in the country.... but we happen to have 2 very large stone oak trees in the front yard. Most of the trees are palm trees, so our yard is very desireable.
