before you add the sand get the salt water first. you can add lr later on. just be sure that ifyou add anything that has living bacteria in it, it needs the water. and also to help you out with the water getting cloudy. add the sand first then ontop of the sand put like a sponge and pour water on to that. it helps alot well for me
What i was planning on doing was getting the salt at some point this week and letting it filter and all that so i can learn how to keep it at the right salinity and all and ill be doing the 10% water changes a week while i save for some LR and im hoping i can talk my parents into buying me the lights .
to be completely honest i dont even think it is LS. I got it at petsmart at $10 for a 5 pound bag. And im pretty sure it said for freshwater also. But it had bacteria that kept water clean and killed algea. Idk im a noob saltwater person .
the ls has been in freshwater about 15 hours. Think i could still save it if i went and got salt now?? or should i jsut drain it and use my other bag of sand?
Drain it out, rmove most of the sand but you don't have to get it all, then put the water in the tank and mix your salt to the desired level, then add your othe bag of sand.
I plan on buying salt tonight and replacing the sand. Should i keep my current water that is in my tank (Its distilled water that i boguht in jugs) or can i just use tap water. I dont plan on having anything other than LS and maybe LR soon in my tank for a while. So in that case would the tap water be fine in a month or two before i have any fish or corals?
Live sand is the biggest rip off to begin with so I don't know why we are telling the OP to drain this and remove that. Leave everything in the tank as is and mix some salt in when you can afford to do so. This tank is going to go through a cycle which will cause die off (which is good for the cycle).

Can you explain this more? Will my LS become "alive" again after my tank is up and running?

Yes, it will become alive again, it is debateble if it was ever live to begin with.

Everything in a saltwater tank will become live over time. Some people prefer to add regular sand to start off.
