i put the water in about 26 hours ago. When i put the salt in about 3 hours ago you could BARELY see the rocks, so its clearing up fastttt since i put in salt. Im just thinking the LS i bought had alot of dust in it for some reason. I figured it would take even longer after putting in the salt

ya give it some more time, I think mine took just short of 48 hours to be crystal clear. ya when you pour the water it will stir up a lot of sand. I usually try and pour my water into the filter, even with a hang on back style filter it would work. that way you dont risk stirring any sand up

Wont be able to afford lights for a while :( I planned on first getting about 5-6lbs of LR letting that cycle and work on getting lights at the same time. Calling my LFS tomorrow about LR.

Im hoping i can convince my parents to buy the lights for me
Any suggestions on ones to get? Lighting is one of thing things i know almost nothing about. About how much would some pretty good ones cost me?

i personally like my nova extreme pro. google it! you can keep pretty much anything under it, and it isnt as pricey as many other lights, and since it it a t5, costs less to run.

well you could do nonphotosynthetic (like suncorals) and just have whatever cheap light came with your tank until you decide to upgrade in future. I couldnt afford those at first and didnt start my reef until i got my tax return a year later and got the lights. But maybe others know of inexpensive ones that will work for some soft corals, i think some pc lighting will work ok and is less expensive.

i think with a 45 dollar power compact light he could keep most of what he wants
but thats just my opinion

I think you should just go fish only until you can afford a decent light setup, no point in having the coral possibly die and being out even more monry, JMO.

I agree... that tank isn't that big and worst case the corals will be a max of only what 10-12 inches from the lights??
