Thanks guys....I always have 10G's of ro/di made up.....I just changed out 3/4G of sw for 3/4G ro/di...I will work on more tomorrow night
Be gradual with it. If it takes longer then so be it, but it should not take longer than three days. Just don't do big changes at once. I am telling you that it is much better to pull out a few gallons of salt water and then dribble the fresh back in. Monitor the SG. It should drop to about .017 the first day, then the rest the second. Watch the PH with each addition of fresh water.

Yea, that's why I mentioned it. I was only changing out 1g at a time. I didn't realize that wasn't enough and it would take a lot more to bring it down!
I have done that. I realized some tricks along the way

I don't think they are ever going to 'thrive' in a 10G after growing up in a 225G. I would assume it is very stressful being in that little tank now. I thought you were taking them back to the fish store or something? Trying to keep them in that little tank is going to be more trouble than it is worth I would think...Maybe they can go to the oklahoma aquarium too? New thread!!!

They can be treated. Sure, the ten gallon isn't what they are used to but it looks as though you have hiding spots for them, so they should be comfortable. That tank will be fine for the duration of the treatment. Keep an eye out for ammonia spikes and fighting.

wow close ups of the little demons sure is disturbing

You know as a fish lover myself you always get those little evil fish that you cant stand and you want them to die or catch them.
So you eventually catch them or they do die and you actually have a little tug at your heart.
So I would say do hypo and save the little devils oops I mean damsels

meowzer,
you can take a fish straight to hypo with no problems. it's raising
the SG that has to be done slowly to keep the fish from dehydrating due to osmotic shock.

yeppers...what you have to keep an eye on is your pH, as it will be low, but 7.8 for hypo is an OK value.

SG 1.010
PH 8.4 I tested with 2 different kits just to be sure
do I need to lower it that extra .01 to 1.009, or is it good as is?

Yes, bring it to 1.009 and hold it there. Check it twice a day and top off as needed.

OK, will do....and then I just wait 3-4 weeks

Yes, start counting the four weeks after the last ich spot is gone. It isn't as bad as it sounds. I have done it many times. Water quality and remembering to check the SG are the biggest concerns.

Do fish with ich generally get worse before they get better? They sure looked BAD this morning, and for the first time ever were not interested in food....
