Know this post is old but where did you go?? Did you use a skimmer on the new tank after you moved (if you are still out there?)

i have an lfs here that has never used a skimmer. his tanks are always very clean. he said that is how he has done it for 30 years and why change now. i don't think you need one, but i also thing that a skimmer helps out alot. good experiment though. could be pretty pricey if things go wrong. thanks for sharing your findings.
