I got my skimmer in the mail today! Just have to wait for it to break in a little. It's a lot smaller then I was imagining it to be. But, it started building a nice foam head right off the bat. There's some bubbles coming out of the bottom tube, but they say one it breaks in really well, it's not going to be an issue. I'll get pics up soon enough. Lol. I kinda want to post pics of it after its broken in a little. But we will see.

Oh and for anyone that doesn't know what skimmer it is yet, it's a SC65 cone skimmer. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. I would definitely recommend this skimmer. Its already starting to get some green gunk outta the water column. I guess you could say that's an awesome thing for a SPS tank.

I was wondering where you were going with this for a minute there...... Nice foam head........... I didn't know if you were talking about your drink, or your skimmer.
Glad it came in for ya..... Pix would be nice, as I use the cheap bio cube skimmer for my 24g..... Want to see what ya came up with!

Skimmer settled down a bit, I turned it down some to skim more dry until it breaks in more. I'm really happy. :D
So, I'm thinking about breaking down and buying one of these new-fangled contraptions ya'll call phosphate reactors? yup. I'm just getting a cheap one with the extension on it to operate out of the sump. I'm also thinking about starting to run some carbon in the system to keep the water from turning too yellow because of the algae scrubber.
Just trying to get a jump on the system and get everything all good and cycled and established so that I can start adding some cool SPS corals in the next few months.
I have enough money to get an MP10 if I wanted it right now, but I am putting together another list of stuff that I need to get or want to get.
I guess I'll wait on the MP10 until the next dry goods order. In between I'll order my new fishie and some SPS corals.
I'm glad the system is progressing so much. It makes it all worthwhile. :D
Next post I guess I will make the list of stuff that I want to get.

What I got:
20g high tank
20g long sump, baffled
Eshopps Nano 200gph max overflow
Mag 3 return pump (350gph)
custom stand
40 pounds live rock
bare bottom, painted flat white
8x6" algae scrubber
SC65 Cone skimmer
Float valve/auto top off
floating temp guage
hydrometer
PH300 powerhead in DT
Koralia Nano 240gph
What I want to get:

Vortech MP10ES
Azoo powerhead 600 (156gph) to run the phosphate reactor
two little fishies phosphate reactor
Phosban media
Azoo powerhead 1200 (300+gph) for mixing saltwater
Refractometer
Digital Thermometer
Glass hole saw 1 3/4" (for 10g scrubber)
two 1" bulkheads
PVC plumbing for algae scrubber
Can anyone else think of anything that might be useful or beneficial to the system overall? I can run carbon if needed without a reactor. I keep thinking that I am missing something...

Alright. So, I have compromised on the equipment a little. Here is what I have in my shopping cart on some online retailer. Lol.
JBJ Oceanstream circ powerhead + duo wavemaker kit 500gph.
Coralife digital thermometer
refractometer
mini jet 404 powerhead
two little fishies phosban reactor 150
phosban media
The jbj pumps on the controller is much cheaper than an mp10. I don't mind the look of the powerheads in the tank. I've had them in the tank for years and years. Not worried about it now. Lol.
So this is my next to last equipment order. The next order will be o replace the stock t5 bulbs with Ati blue plus and a kz new gen.
Corals are next!!!! Woohoo!!!!

Alright... I just purchased those above. $185 isn't bad for everything I got. The only thing that I have remaining to purchase is light bulbs. After replacing that aweful looking powerhead in the middle of the tank, I'll have a saltwater mixing pump again.
I'm really anxious to start purchasing corals... it's going to be about another month until I can get the system fine tuned and some more money saved up.
The bad news is that one of my aquarium maintenance accounts has been terminated. I guess there's not enough money to go around to keep maintaining her tank. So, I'm not going to have much money left for my tank anymore. Once every two months though I will get a little money gathered up to put in a live order here and there.
My tank is fixin' to start lookin' really good!!!! :D :D :D

What with all that no digital controlled auto doser?

What are you going to run in the phosban reactor? I know you said Phosban Media, but there's a lot of media that can be run in a phosban reactor. I've never owned one, but my buddy is going back and forth between GFO and biopellets.

I'm going to run granular ferric oxide in it. Basically phosban. I think those bio-pellet things are a bunch of crud.
I think I'll be good on equipment. I am so excited about buying corals in a few weeks.

Well, still waiting for the package to arrive. I'm sure it will be here by Friday or Saturday.
My protein skimmer is finally broken in really well. It's producing good dark skim ate. I am very impressed for such a small skimmer.
Also, with my scrubber and skimmer going, I have noticed that my halimeda algae is actually dying off. Tonight I'm going to check my calcium, alkalinity and magnesium to just be sure that the algae is getting enough. I would hate to see it perish, but I am running a ulns, so I knew this would eventually happen.

It's not all dying, just a little here and there. I'm actually considering plucking some of it out if it continues to grow. lol
Anyways, I looked up my order online and it's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow! They also sent my digital thermometer separate from my original order because I guess it was back-ordered or something. So that will be a few days late. Oh well.
Now that I have everything that I need/want the only thing to do now is to buy some corals, sit back and enjoy.

I am only going to purchase 10 species of SPS corals for this tank. I'm also looking into taking the easy route and order all ORA aquacultured frags.
