Snake's 20g Nano Build thread

Lol, yeah, I know how to fix just about every problem there is when it comes to a saltwater tank EXCEPT calcium reactors and kalkwasser stirrers. I know how they work, and I partially know the chemistry behind it, but I can't accurately say how to dial it in or adjust effuents, etc.
Something else that I have a problem with is identifying fish and some corals. I don't really care about fish much at all. They are fun to watch and they have all different types of personalities, etc. But, they don't interest me as much as the corals, microfaunas, microalgae/macroalgae, and equipment.

My wife just informed me that we ARE going to buy corals from swf.com next week. She's sick of looking at an empty tank. lol! So, I guess I'm going to make a purchase order soon. :D

Lol. I dunno know my budget yet! I know I want to avoid soft corals. I'm thinking of starting off with a few Lps and a pair of clownfish. It's time for me to replace the bulbs on my scrubber.
Im thinking it might be a little too soon to add any SPS yet. I want to get my fish in and established first.

So, I just made a purchase order!!!!! It should arrive some time this week.
2 tomato clownfish (looks very sililar to a cinnamon, so I'm happy)
1 bi-color blenny
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
4 more snails
1 feather duster.
I'm still trying to find some decent frag sellers. I've ran across a few hobbyists, but I hate to have to do paypal mess. I guess if I want the good stuff, I should get a paypal account, eh?
Anyways - nothing much is going on with the tank. I'm currently topping off my tank daily with a kalkwasser drip over the last five days. In the next few weeks I should start to see a coralline explosion in my tank.
I'm also considering purchasing another powerhead as well for the other side of my tank. I'll have to do that on my next dry goods order, which will be awhile. I'll have to do that before I can start buying some SPS corals.
EQUIPMENT UPDATE!!!!!
My wife gave me the go-ahead to build my own stand and convert my 20g long that I bought for a QT tank into a sump for my 20g high. I am designing my own 10g ATS modeling after Al&Burks design. But, I want to see his up and running first before I consider doing mine - so it might be a few weeks.

I would really like to get my stand and new ATS design built and operational before I move next year. We will see...
Oh, and also with the bigger sump, I'm going to purchase an octopus or ASM skimmer. Not sure which one yet. lol. SPS tank and all - I figured I should probably go overkill on filtration and feed a little heavy.
Anyways, that's all for now.

So, a buddy of mine is giving me a few corals. I'm really excited about that. I'll be getting them in a week or so, I hope.
My order just arrived today. I acclimated everything... I ordered:
2 tomato clownfish
1 bi-color blenny
5 golden snails
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
The shrimp didn't ship with this order, I guess they were out of stock. I should be getting one in the next couple of weeks when it gets back in stock again, I hope. If not, I'm going to be upset. :(
I'll post pics of my purchases as soon as I can.

The glass is dirty. lol
You can see a little of the halimeda growing, as well as the mermaids wineglass growing in the background. The snails I bought are getting the rocks spotless as we speak. :D By friday, it should all be really clean.

Nice additions. But, what's even better are those macro algaes that you have. I cannot say enough how much I love them.
(My speech gets weird late at night...)

Yep, I'm liking it pretty well too. My bicolor blenny disappeared. lol, I'll probably get to see him every now and then. I am actually trying to get that halimeda to take off. The mermaids wineglass is actually dying back a bit. But, that's ok. I don't want my tank to be taken over by random macroalgaes. I want to save room for all the SPS corals I want. :D

My blennie went carpet surfing this morning. I put him back in the tank and he seemed fine. I guess I must have scared him this morning. Almost makes me want to put some egg crate on top of the tank.

Everything in the tank is doing fine. The blenny recovered very well from surfing. The only thing now is that he won't eat. :( I feed em' all some flake food twice a day. He wasn't eating that, so I switched to enriched brine shrimp. He didn't want that yesterday, so I switched again to some frozen mysis. He didn't like that either. So, I tooka little hair algae out of my algae scrubber and he kinda went for it. So, if anyone else has any ideas to get him to start eating let me know.
I don't have any pictures of the tank right now. Not much has changed. I'm going to hopefully be getting in some corals in the next week or so! I'm really excited about that. Also, I have decided that I am going to build my own custom stand as well. Here is a link to the thread: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/389196/new-custom-20g-stand I'm going to try my hand at making it all look nice and well trimmed. Hopefully it will all be easy to get going and build and transfer everything without problems. We'll just have to see. :D
