Didn't see your other questions. If I could run a deep sand bed that size I would. Don't know about skimming before or after the fuge. If you do it before you might starve the fuge. If you do it after the pods will never have a chance to hit the display. Don't really know on that one. My sump and fuge are seperate.

Thanks Kogle. I think I am going to be fine with the 5800gph hammerhead and a reeflow dart 3800gph. If it's not quite enough I may add a couple of koralia 4's, but I think it should be JUST FINE.
The goal of using the larger pumps is to use less electricity.
I think that if I have the sand already on hand, that I should go ahead and do a remote DSB. I don't know if I want to even use a protein skimmer on this tank :D
I have gone skimmerless in the last year on most of my other systems and I haven't had any problems. The more live rock and the deeper the sandbed, combined with a little macro and a low bioload - you shouldn't have any problems.
So, suggestions for stocklist?

split the drain... have it wye off and half goes to a skimmer and half goes to the fuge. This is if you're going to run a skimmer at all.. I would run the skimmer at night if you're going to use it just to keep aeration up and lower the chances for a pH swing.

For my fish:
1 medium sized yellow tang (the only fish I've had for 3 1/2 years.)
1 helfrich firefish goby
1 yellow watchman goby
1 clown fairy wrasse (I know they get big)
1 lawnmower blenny
Corals:
3 large nepthias (Already have)
1 medium sized colony of Frogspawn (already have)
As for the rest, not in quantities, but what I Would like:
Acropora
Pociliopora,
Seriatopora
Montipora
Alveopora
Pavona
Maxima Clams
Duncans
Acans
Ricordea
different types of zoas
Clean Up Crew:
100 astrea snails
15 black brittle stars
10 turbo snails
200 blue leg hermit crabs
Anyone want to recommend a really freaking awesome fish? I would like something semi-rare and unique.

a shoal of deepwater privitera anthias.. at $900/each retail thats sure to turn heads as they look awesome hahahaha.

Anything realistic - something that ISN'T so rare... I don't mind spending that kind of money on a really nice large coral, but not a fish.

Man I'm BIG fan of the achilles tangs but I've heard they don't like to eat in captivity. Not to mention the $200 price tag.
Tank that big the possibilities are endless. I like the low bio load approach though. I've got two tangs, a 6 line wrasse, 2 false percs in my 180 and it's great. I may get a lawnmower blenny and a couple of firefish but that's likely it.
So how is the move coming?

Right now I'm selling corals left and right... getting ready to move it this evening. Don't have my camera with me right now. I am waiting on some help to get here so I Can go and get my camera.

That's the sump that I am going to be using, the 110 long. the middle top part of the sump is a glass eurobrace. It's great to put a small light on the top of it for the fuge.
By the way, that's a 2" bulkhead!!! I have to get a new union though.

So - I'm getting the rest of the house cleaned and vacuumed before I put this monstrous tank in my house.
You know, in certain places, a 240 gallon aquarium doesn't look that big, in others - it's freaking huge!!

SPS dominated reef tank.
I think I'm going to go ahead and buy a kalkwasser stirrer. I've used limewater over the years and I have had great success with it. Anyone have different thoughts - maybe suggest using a calcium reacter with it?
Phosphate reactor and media? I've had a problem with phosphates in the water in my home town for a long time. My RO Unit membranes get really clogged because of Alumn in the water. So, I think I'm going to use a phosphate reactor to back up my RO Unit on the tank. Good idea? I think it is...

Well, I think your going to need a calcium reactor for that size tank. Are you going to have a sand bed and clams too?

I don't know if I am going to have room for both a calcium reactor and a kalkwasser stirrer. We'll see once I get everything underneath the tank.

Yay!! I got the sump to my house today! w00t w00t!! Going to take pictures tomorrow to post. I have arranged with a few of my friends to move the tank on Monday!
