Of course being on disability I only get the bill to pay for your tax rebates
If interest and dividends I have to pay taxes on counted as earned income I'd get a rebate too.

I am not an economist so someone else more knowledgable please confirm but this ISN'T free money correct? This is actually an advance on a potential refund for your 2008 taxes, you are just getting the money in the mid 2008 versus early 2009.

Thats wasn't how I understood it. It is being given to us to "boost the economy" And it is extra tax money that Uncey Sam took already. That is why the lower income families get much more, they are more likely to spend it on a night at the sizzler. It recirculates and boosts our ecomony that bush has so royally screwed up.

That's good news. Spend it well and have fun with money. If I interpret the article correctly, as I expected I won't get anything.

It is not free money. It is a portion of the money that was already taken from you/us. If they didn't take so much in the first place we would not be where we are today. I'm sure it cost $5,000 to give you $2500. Don't be a sucker, you were ripped off.

I'm just looking forward to knocking down some of the debt I'm gathering with my new tank setup.

Nope but the highest gross national debt in HISTORY is. When Bill C had us in the positive. Bush is a failure.

That is what I said. They are taking the same amount they always have from me, so if I actually get it back that is nice for a change. Better than sending it to Bushs' personal war!

Bill Clinton did not have us in the positive... he, along with a Republican Congress, were working on a "balanced" budget. Far from "in the positive".
He also cut military and Intel spending and didn't respond to terrorism...

For the record, I too support the War. So, from now on please refer to it as "Bushs' and Journeyman's war" for the sake of accuracy.
Thanks.

Ok, then I'll ask you to kindly repay our country half of the trillion or so dollars it is costing everyone

Not trying to get anyone riled up, it's just a joke.

Clinton didn't have to respond to terrorism. Granted Saddam was doing his thing and all, but that wasn't his fight. I don't want to turn this into another pro/con argument about the war...not my point by a LONG shot. But I do feel Clinton did more for this country than any president has for a long long time. And what do you feel we have accomplished in this war? Just a simple question not trying to rile anyone up here I promise. But what exactly have we done? Our brave soldiers are fighting for reasons half of them don't know. This particular war has gone nowhere. Just in my opinion.

from what I understand, the maximum you get is $1800....$1200 for being a working, married couple and $300 per child (2 child limit).
like others have said, this is NOT "free" money. this is money that we've already paid to the govt.
the purpose is for you to spend the money on some taxable item. that way, the govt gets the tax and the vendor that you spend the money with gets a boost in their business, and you get the item. however, every economist I've heard said that this is not going to do anything to boost the economy. I've heard several say that the if you're po'd about how the govt wastes money, the best thing to do with this money would be to invest it in funds or spend it on something that is not taxable or is under the table.
I was listening on the radio last night and there was an economist that said over $700 BILLION dollars is missing. said it came up to something like $50,000 per tax paying household. MISSING. not wasted in the war, or spent on bridges to nowhere, or NASA, or anything like that, just flat out missing. as in no one knows where this $700 billion is. so yeah, this govt can afford to give us some of our money back if they can afford to lost $700 billion.
