K, back to the conversation. Those bikes are seriously sweet. Do you have any pics with the new black wheel?
Tang, which is your favorite.
They are all totally different but the yellow/black 08 1000RR is probably my favorite all around bike. Handles like the 600 but insane power.
The white 06 1000RR track bike is track only with some serious suspension setup. Rear Ohlin's monoshock and just bought a set of forks for it tonight that have new Ohlin 25mm cartridges and superbike valving built by Kyle Racing who does a lot for AMA guys.
The black 08 ZZR600 is my wife's everyday street bike. It's lowered too much for the track and she drag's her boot too much.
Just bought the 08 Suzuki GSX-R 600 yesterday which will be my wife's track bike and probably her new street bike but it's pretty twitchy on the street due to being built for the track so it may become track only. The guy I bought it from used it about 50/50 street/track after break in and it only has 1200 miles on it. It has professionally built suspension, full race exhaust and tuning and more aggressive gearing. Here are the racing plastics that I will be switching it over to in the next few weeks for a track weekend we are doing next month. This bike was setup to race amateur WERA which is why it has the yellow backgroud paint for the number.

how can they prove i was waiting? the law here is more for the real justice without all the bs that some states approve i think. come on my property and try to steal anything else from me and i am going to be the law. my friend had two four wheelers stole while he was sleeping from INSIDE his garage. cops dont do crap other than take a report, even tho we pretty much know who did it. do we just sit around an let this happen? not me. i will protect family and myself and all i own till death. thats the way it should be.. sorry if u dont agree. the police cant be your babysitter. take care of yourself. and dont worry. i wont shoot unless im am threatened. i have been shot at VERY close range with a 38 and i DID NOT LIKE IT. i dont wish this on anyone, but if u are stealing or out to hurt someone else.. eye for an eye and i firmly believe this.
You really should check with your state laws. If the bike is in an open area and you blast them from within your house I can about guarantee you will be charged. I actually agree with your sentiment on this but that doesn't mean I am going to sit here and rah rah and encourage you to do something that is going to get you into trouble either.
If you are dead set on teaching them a lesson should they come back (I wouldn't expect them for days, if ever) I would suggest a large caliber handgun used to shoot into the engine compartment of their vehicle. Trying to keep them from driving away with your property is going to be a lot less enticing for a DA to file charges on than you shooting them.

Heres a story for ya. Years ago when pager alarms were all the rage ,a friend of the family (who was a nypd officer) had one installed on his new pathfinder after they stole the 1st truck within 2 weeks of owning it. So one night the pager starts beeping and he goes outside and sneaks up on a guy trying to steal the truck, gun drawn , badge out , and no where for the thief to go. Then it happened , bang a bullet in the head, no not the car thief , the cop , and he was dead almost instantly. How ? well these guys usually have a spotter and when the spotter realized what was going on he shot the guy holding the gun to his friends head not knowing it was a cop. In the end as much as it sucks , its just not worth it because you arent a thief ,therefore you dont think like one ,nor are you as desperate and you could get yourself hurt over something that can be replaced. I learned how to balance a 2 wheeler on a 1977 honda z50 so i feel your pain, but get insurance and call it a day. Also be thankful , the guys who used to steal cars in my area were known for chopping people up in a bathtub (google gemini lounge) so consider yourself fortunate. However if you insist, then make a call to a criminal defense lawyer so you know what to expect before you do anything. Btw id speak to the police ,buy a tracking device for it ,leave it out , let them take it, let the cops do their job and take them all down at their chopshop. You should be on good terms with the local police after helping them arrest these clowns as im sure you are one of many. Good Luck with however you decide to handle it.

That depends on the state. Colorado has a law that you don't have to retreat if you feel threatened, you can drop them where they stand if you feel threatened as long as you are in a location consider "your space" which can be on or off your property. In Texas you can blast someone to keep them from stealing your neighbors property if you can make the case your neighbor wants you too.
However, laying in wait will probably at least get you a nice lawyer bill while you try to get the charges dropped.
I assume the leaving it out and hoping they would be back was a joke. If not, DON'T BE STUPID!!! Lets assume for a moment you did catch them coming back and you let loose with bird shot. You better wait until they are on the bike and then you just shot your bike too
The brief moment of satisfaction isn't worth the legal hassle.
Right or wrong, if you do carry a weapon. Besides the danger, you've better be dang sure it is worth the hassle. Because you pull that trigger, you've just wrote a 10 grand check to an attorney to handle the legal issues that will follow. What is that in terms of toys for your bike. And the new one you'll get from the insurance company...

I'm a firm believer of taking care of yourself. And being self sufficient, whether it be financially or for your own safety. Especially in a big city, following "leads" and "investigating" is something that happens only on a TV show. As far as cops go chasing thieves. I also believe that an armed house is a great deturrent (unless they're after your guns). But as said above, it had better be dang worth it.

If we want to talk about the bikes, fine.
If we want to talk about legal
means of protecting your property, keeping in mind that this is a family site, fine.
If we want to post gory pictures, NOT FINE.
If we want to recommend vigilante justice or other such tactics, NOT FINE.
Fair warning.

Please delete this thread, I am shocked that it went to the point where people were allowed to post pictures of people they shot.

I'm biased toward Honda but their 08 and newer 1000RR has has some issues. Lucky for me I'm problem free so far. The new Yamaha R1 with the big bang engine has been the talk of the bike world lately even though it didn't rank at the top in the liter bike reviews. Rossi and Spies have done a lot for Yamaha with their championships. If I was going out today and buy a new sportbike, I would probably pick up the Aprilia RSV4 but they are expensive to maintain like a Ducati.

TKS. i wanted to say somethings along those lines because i agree that people have gotten to cushy and weak. everyone wants some easy answer and someone else to solve there problems. but..... im not trying to start that argument. im glad everyone had some input. anyway... i looked into phantom tracker and it looks to me like the best option if u can afford it. about $800 and $14 a month and looks fool proof to me. i however cannot afford that, i have a salt water hobbie that soaks up alot of money!! i do have some low cost diy ideas for security tho. most of them dont include guns...jk lol.

Because people don't prefer to be confrontational and take the law into their own hands, you think they are 'cushy and weak'? Don't think George Washington had to worry about whether some 15 year old punk was packing an Uzi or Glock 9mm when he went to confront the guy jacking his gsxr 750. We don't live in the Old Wild West any longer. They used to hang cattle rustlers back then, but I think we've become a little more civilized since those 'good ole days'. Trust me, I'm the first one that will do whatever it takes to protect my personal property. But unless I'm 100% sure I can survive a confrontation with someone trying to rip me off, I'm not going to sacrifice my life for some possession that can be replaced.
So you'd rather spend the money that you could use to protect and secure this $8,000 prize possession you're willing to shoot someone over, for a saltwater tank that has little fishes and pretty coral floating around in it?
