Spidey's Red Sea Max

One clown dead

I saw a white film (small spot) on him the same afternoon as he arrived
and yesterday the spot was larger
(this link will show you the full size photo that you can zoom in, but be careful, it's huge)

I reported it to the vendor right away and his advice was to keep an eye on it and that it's probably sliming after shipping. Yesterday he was sliming up more and stopped eating. I was adviced to keep an eye on him and in 2 days give a few short FW dips. Well... didn't make it that far. This morning he was dead. DAMN! The other clown is swimming around happily and looks healthy. Keep him in your prayers and wish us luck.
Water quality is good:
Ammonia and nitrite 0
Nitrate < 0.5
temp 79-80
ph 8.2
I use Salifert test kit for testing.

Dang spidey. Im sorry about that. Im really sorry to hear that. R u gonna get it replaced?
They offered half of the price as a refund, no replacement :(
I'm getting a full pair from ORA in a week or two through my favorite crack dealer anyways and am also on the list to get a Picasso from a breeder here in NC. It was so disappointing to see the clown showing the white film within hours in the tank. If I order any other fish online I will make sure that site offers 7-14 day guarantee on the fish, so this won't happen again. I just feel that I'm not meant to have Picasso's... so much problems (first set died before I even took delivery on them but had paid them.)

It's the same person you mean. She is here in NC. I'm on her list #60+ I hope there is even a Grade B left by that time. I don't want my current one to grow old alone. That guy looks so lonely in the nano right now.
Yep, I do love those clowns and wanted them in 2 tanks. I have a weird pair in our 75... 6yr old false female and a bit over 1yr old true male.

So sorry to hear about the loss spiderwoman. I really hate that for ya. I also hate it when the place where we spend all this money doesnt want to give us full refund on something that was probably their fault. That happen to me at ***** once when i bought sum black clowns and i paid like 98 bucks for the pair and they didnt want to help me at all. They maybe lived for like 1 day if that. It sucked but oh well i never bought fish there again.

Hey SpiderWoman, did you know that Red Sea is coming out with the "Red Sea Max 250"? It's a 65 gallon version of the RSM. Awesome!
www.redseamax.com
Yeah, found out about it in another thread. I'm not sure I'd ever go with a 65g RSM. For that size you want to be more in control of your filtration and preferably would have a sump and refugium. For me the 34g is definitely the largest as it's barely still in the *nano* class :)
We've got a 75 and 150 g reefs already so if I want to play with a larger tank, I go downstairs. To be honest, I almost like the nano the best.

Also, where do you normally keep your RSM water level at? How do you gauge it?
I keep the water level above the black plastic and I have a ATO system that keep that in check... or better yet I should say that I need to install it first
The previous owner installed one and he gave it to me.

I knew the nano would become the fav!!!
It sure is. I'm getting another pair of Picasso's in tomorrow, so I'll have a school of 3. All are about the same age so they should get along just fine. I'm wondering if I should get them an anemone to live in. Any ideas?

Spidey, what is the gph rating on that extra powerhead you have? Are you happy with the flow? I need more flow in my RSM and need to know what will work.
