So excited.
Redsox look good. They need Pedrioa to make his presence known at second and if he doesnt shows great strides within a month start platooning him and Cora , I think Cora is the better player. Supposedly Pedrioa has put on some "good lean" weight. I like Coco Crisp at the end of the line up, he is anther guy who needs to prove himself , as well as Beckett. Im happy we didnt trade Lowell for Helton.
I wouldnt say its Worlds series or bust, If we contend in the playoffs , that will be a good season for me. Ever since we won the world series in 04 I hear alot of fans acting like we are owed a worl series victory , personally i saw them win a world series for the first time in 86 years so if they never win a world series in my life time i can still say I saw the Redsox will one. That alot more than some fans from the previous generation can say.
Dont get me wrong I want a world series just as much as the next but I will always be a Redsox fan regardless.
I think alot of pressure is on Theo Epstien this year. Terry Francona needs to pull his pitchers and have pitchers ready in big game situations as well. Leaving Taveres out for 6 innings in extra innings when you have a rested Hansen , Lester , and Papalbon just doesnt cut it.

Hey Oceanists, good to hear from another sox fan out there. I cant wait to go back to Fenway this year! I go to a lot of games and have seen so many Ortiz walk-offs I dont even think he is human anymore. I am really looking forward to seeing Daisuke pitch too and seeing if that "Giro Ball" of his is a myth or not.

I see goods things for the sox this year. Their rotation is solid. The bullpen is rebolstered. Crisp will bounce back this year and I think Pedroia will hold his own at second. If they stay healthy they are the best team in MLB this year.

what have the sox done to impress you in the offseason? none of their new guys are proven and the others are very injury prone and they didnt even make it to the playoffs last year.
so they will have to beat the yanks out of the division race because the wild card will be coming from the best division in baseball

Who is the best team in baseball then? You tell me. I think they have the best starting rotation in the bigs and one that has a lot of depth. They added Julio Lugo and JD Drew both upgrades who add speed and offensive production. Coco Crisp will be paying this season without a broken finger. The bullpen has added a ton of depth. I think they're 2 glaring weaknesses from last year they have turned into strengths. Starting pitching and the bullpen.

right now just considering all the moves that have taken pkace so far id say detriot should still be considered better than the red soxs.
i wouldnt get too excited about julio lugo and jd drew but hey thats just me.
you payed how much for your new pitcher? 50 mil just to talk. i can already tell you whats going to happen with him. he ll look amazing in his first few games because no one has seen him. come guys 5th at bats against him they have him figured out. lets not forget where he was playing. if those players were playing here most would be in the minors with a handful of major leaguers.
i thought all you bo sox fans were so anti yankee, look what you have turned into, within no time you guys will be the huge money spending ruin the game disaster that you all used to despise in the yankees and the yanks have started keeping there minor league players, and they do now have some good ones, so they will be how you used to.
if it were me id rather take all my players out of my farm system. look at my twins and all the great players we have, can you name one that isnt a product of our system? plus we only have a 70 million pay role, what u at now? even look at the whole central division all of the teams pretty much develop all of there players and what a coincedence we are the best division in baseball

Haha , did you here Youkilis talking about the Gyro ball , he was letting his sense of humour show.
I think the redsox have the best rrotation in the league as well
I would like to see Clement come back mid season and take the closer role , but with his shoulder going through reconstructive surgery that is wishfull thinking.
SS - Lugo
1st - Youkie
DH - Big Papi
LF - Manram
RF - Drew
C - Tek
3rd - Lowell
CF - Crisp
2nd - Pedrioa
1 - Schill
2 - K Dice
3 - Beckett
4 - Paps
5 - Wake
MR - Hanson
Setup - Lester ,
Closer - Timlin , Tavy
The only glaring hole is Closer and a big ? mark at second. We have seen teams with worse come around.
I think the biggest thing this year is going to be the ability to beat the Devil Rats and the Blue Jays.
If we dont dominate them we are done for.
Forget the Yankees , I expect a split with them every season. As for the rest that is what will make or break us.
I would also like to see Clemens come in on a closer role that would be EXCITING! I had always hoped for Arroyo to come bac k UT with the well deserved extension he just got with the Reds that is highly unlikely.

All that money spent ($297m) and I wouldnt be surprised if they dont make the playoffs. Lilly and Marquis is the best the Cubs can do for pitchers in the off-season? Zambrano is the only good starter unless Prior can stay away from injuries. Oh yeah, they need to sign Zambrano. Give him the world if he asks for it because without him it will be years before they make the playoffs.
Their roatation, with the exception of Zambrano and a healthy Prior, looks almost as bad as the Mariners' (cringes).

Clemens won't take a closer role, he's too good and would want the limelight. And he said he is 80% sure he's retiring. The Red Sox do have a great staff, assuming Beckett can turn it around, but if he does come back and play, Clemens would be the best starting pitcher on the Red Sox (at 43, amazing) because he is that good.
