Sorry, I have to ask.

The water you've added, is it salty? Or just Ro/Di?
Hehe I knew this question would come up... I have the water go from an 18 gallon bucket and I add salt mix it with a power head for about 10 minutes, then I dump it into the tank once all salt is dissolved. I listen to you all, no worries! :)

Also... does it matter if I have the bucket that gets the RO/DI and I use that same bucket to dump salt in? I assume it shouldn't be a problem since everything that I have will have salt in it regardless... right?

I would get a separate bucket to keep your top off water in.....

also....who said to mix your sw for 10 minutes
...Do you have a powerhead running in the tank to finish stirring the water up?????

When you get deeper into this....and have to mix w/c water, you will need it to mix with a powerhead for a minimum of 24 hours

No one said 10 minuets... but it's only like... 10 gallons at a time and I make sure that the salt is disolved... when I do the w/c I can do the 24 hour thing I suppose... but it just seems like waiting 24 hours for every 10 gallons will make this into a 2 week process just filling up the tank...?

I will go out and buy one tomorrow morning. Meanwhile I will leave one running in there tonight and keep it out of my QT. THANK YOU!

Ha... you speak in plural. You must remember, going into this... I thought this was cheap and bought bare minimum... I have ONE powerhead the 1400 korilla. As I said though, I will pick up 2 more tomorrow... 1 for the QT and an additional powerhead to place on the opposite end of the exsiting powerhead. However, I DO have a power head in the middle... but that will be the water input from the sump... I may have confused many when I said I had additional powerheads in my earlier posts so that may be where your confusion sets in...

Bro, you don't have a power head in the middle. Your have the return in the middle. There is a slight difference.

I would do as I "think" your saying. That is to place the 1400 in the DT and get the other PH's to fill in the blank spots. IMO your only going to need a K1, Maybe.....a K2 in your QT.

hehe... ok. I don't have a pump in the middle... I have the return in the middle. Also, are you suggesting I have two 1400's in the DT and only the K1 (or a K2) in the QT? I just want to make sure I don't buy an additional 1400 if I don't have to... but I was under the impression an extra 1400 would be a great help with water flow.

You are gonna need more than 1 PH in your dt.....the 1400 will be good for now, but I would plan on getting more.....I have 6 in mine....plus 2 canisters that have the flow bars (one on each side of tank) plus the return

Holy cow... six!?!? Well... I suppose I should start putting money aside for that as well. I will go buy a 1400 today though. Also the water has finally cleared up this morning... I see the sand is STILL under the rock though... but not a lot... should that still work or should I still be worried for when I get fish that will dig? Is there any technique or specific rocks I need to purchase to make the rock scape look proper? Based on everything I see in pictures and at stores the rocks I have are good for pretty much just setting it in and not building off of...

You don't need 6 1400's...lol....You might not even need that many....I have mine spaced so as not to have dead spots

I have a 1400, 1050, 750, 2 K3's...and 1 K1 (LOL....gonna get a bigger one)

If you are lucky enough to be able to pick your rock out (I had to order online) try to pick out pieces that will work...like a puzzle....if you can get base rock...use that for the bottom

try to find some pieces with holes, and arches for bridges

Ok, I went out and bought a K1 for my QT and another 1400 for my DT. For the time being though I am going to use this other 1400 to mix water and salt up in the water bin and leave the other 1400 in the center to continue to have water flow inside the DT. It looks like the water flows fairly well and there aren't any dead spots so the salt I don't believe it sitting anywhere in the tank.

Could that possibly be the first "you did it right" I've gotten from Meowzer!?!? So this is what success in the fish world feels like!
