Wow, I bet he would thrive in the bigger environment! Do you think that your dad would be able to care for him as well as you and would all the tank mates get along with him?

Hes probably better off in my tank just because i feed him krill and silverslides. my dad has all big fish so he probably wouldnt get much to eat..

Beautiful fish! You don't see them often.I suspect they're often over-looked in favor of the porcupines, which get way too big for most tanks. The striped dogface is a more manageable size.I bought one of these guys as a "filler" fish. (I pay the fed-ex, so fill in with one more fish). He has nowhere near the yellow color yours has, but is a real crowd-pleaser. For some reason, my nemesis is the porcupine puffer. I really like them, but have just had terrible luck with them. I suspect the 3 (I think) all came from the same collecting station and that was the source of the problem. Mine loves algae sheets too; in fact, all fish seem to enjoy them. I also keep a piece of cuttlebone in a hidden spot for him to gnaw on and he really likes this way of keeping his teeth in check. I also have a spiny box puffer with the same habits. Are you doing anything special, dental-wise? Also, if you have a secret to the yellow color. please post it!

Great pics! Amazing puffer. My striped dogface seems to be growing quickly also... such an aggressive eater.
So how old was it when you got it?

I guess what works is a mixture of food. i switch up his food everyday. I use krill one day, then the next silverslides, and occasionally use big pieces of shrimp (thats his favorite) I dont know how old he was when i got him. im guessing he was a baby because he was really small. I had him in my other 40 gallon tank when i got him, and he quickly grew out of it, now hes in my 75 gallon tank. It may be a little small for him, but ive made a lot of caves for him to go in. after feeding he will go and just sit in one of his caves. its so funny!

Slack, he doesn't have 20 fish in a 75. 20 aggressive evil dirty fish that are constantly fighting over food and killing each other. If my actual count of your fish is a little off, I don't care, btw. We all know you are irresponsible. I am sure someone would have mentioned to him that an upgrade in the future might be needed. Please don't sideline this thread with that. It is rude and all too typical of you.
I think he looks beautiful as I said before.
Are you thinking about upgrading so you can keep some other large fish in the future as well as this one? You seem to be doing a great job with this one.
