OK, I would love to get a tattoo but am afraid of the pain. I know, I have officially popped out two kids and endured 3 days of labor and a c-section with the third but I am afraid I will go in and they will get exactly one dot done and I won't be able to take it anymore. How bad do they hurt? What woud you compare it to? I so want a cute little sexy one but don't just want the dot.

ok the kids are 5000000000000000000 times more painful
i have had three children, PAIN was not even close
even you get a good artist they do a line, swipe, do a line swipe. the girl i had with the butterfly was just heavy handed and pressed hard.

OMG, that reminds me of this stupid show on VH1 the other day where the body builder dude was having his dad shave his backside for a competition. Is that just wrong or what?

OK, I was definitely too repulsed to look that close. Please don't tell me you have the cahunas enough to tweeze the em..shall we say....sensitive areas of the body.

different parts of the body hurt differently when you tattoo them. Parts of you that are bony - ie; ankles, hipbone, spine, etc usually are more uncomfortable than the soft fleshy parts of you.
My tattoo is right over my hipbone - the sensation wasn't "painful," it was more...uncomfortable...like someone was scratching me with a toothpick. Sometimes tho, when the needle was right over the bone, I felt my whole skeleton vibrate...THAT was weird. ...but also very cool. And you're so excited when it happens that u have this huge adrenaline rush anyhow, so the pain really isn't an issue.
I would say go for it. But go SLOWLY. Pick your image/wording CAREFULLY. I was so excited about my descision to get one that I went out and got the first thing that came to mind. Mistake.
My new rule is to draw up what I want (I will only ever get self-designed tattoos, not everyone is into this, it's just a personal thing), and hang it up everywhere I can for 12 months. I mean EVERYWHERE; on the backs and fronts of doors, in the bathroom, in the kitchen....EVERYHWHERE. If I still love it after having to look at it for a year, then I'll get it tattooed on my body.

That's another thing.... take the time to shop around for an artist who not only does amazing work of the type you're interested in, but is also easy for you to get along with.
