OK so the fuge is complete, I removed the false floor in chamber 2, added some lr rubble and a wad of chaeto. I scraped the black off of the outside wall of chamber 2, to allow light to pass in. I put velcro on a 9 watt light that is now hanging on the back, allowing the chaeto to get light
Hopefully this works and will help with keeping the nitrates down. Also I will be "seeding" the chaeto with pods.

lol look at u. did it before I even did it lol... Whatd u have to do to take the flase floor out of the cmaber? I might do it today if i get around too it
...

You may want to get a pen and paper for all of these detailed instructions...go ahead I will wait...
Ready for this...
I pushed hard on it
That's it, I was ready with tools and all this other stuff, but when I actually started feeling how well it was in there I could tell all I had to do was push on one side of it. Thats what I did and was able to pull it right out
You should totally do it, it was really easy and cost less than $30. for everything needed to make a proper refugium.
So quick question where should I put the purigen?

Thanks Blazin. Yeah the fuge was something that I knew would help me in the long run, plus it was a fun little project. It really was not hard to do at all. Only time will tell though if it helps keep my tank perfect

Hey everybody, just got back from the New Jersey shore
As expected, my tank is absolutely covered in algae. I am planning on testing my parameters tomorrow when the lights come on,as long as it comes back OK then I am going to buy a few snails
Any suggestions on what type to get? My lfs has nass and astreas, also mexican turbos and chestnut turbos on sale right now, would these be good additions? Any info on what type of snails to get would be greatly appreciated

Ended up buying 2 chestnut turbos and 3 nassarius snails, acclimating now. I will post pics once they are in and cruising the block looking for algae

My nass snails have moved under the sand right now, and my turbos are on top of the sand, not really moving too much. I hope everything is ok, I will keep checking on things as the night progresses. On to the pics...

My tank as it sits now

I do plan on adding more rock, most likely base rock though. I wanna get some really cool shapes, and have not been able to find much at the lfs.

So today I finally got around to getting a refractometer for what I thought was a pretty good price. My specific gravity is 1.024 and my temp is hovering around 78 deg. I also picked up a 50 watt stealth heater just to make sure that there was not a big swing in temp from night to day. I also got my first fish, it is a yellowtail blue damsel. I dont know how long I will keep it for but my girlfriend really liked it. My lfs has some beautiful onyx clowns that I will eventually be adding in a few weeks. I think thats about it, I will post pics once I am done acclimating the little fella
