are there concerns with brands like with skimmers? are some garbage?

the one i have dont even have a brand and its been there for over 1 year and its never given me any trouble, if it leaks later on, its easy to take off the aquarium and easy to repair some silicone should do the trick

yes i agree. aqaurium125g has been pretty convincing in selling me on an overflow box. i will probably go that route but itll be a couple weeks at least.

i have everything running and seems to be working fine. the small hole i drilled in the return that prevents flow from reversing when the pump shuts off is acting as an air intake and blowing air into my tank. perhaps i made the whole a little large.
i also drilled the holes in the plumbing submerged into the refugium too high and a couple are above my water line. gurgle gurlgle. might have to take it apart and plug a few of them.

does your hole in your return suck air in and blow it into the tank?

alright, got it up and running. it took some playing with to balance it but for now its ok. i have yet to add the blue/white filter material but i will as soon as i can get to a shop. i also need to add a nice bulb to the fuge light cus the one i just bought already burtn out, kinda pissed. i took the brace between dividers out and it seems to be holding fine.
i have some sand coming this weekend which i will lay down in the fuge and hopefully some critters. i plan on keeping the fuge relatively clean and would like to house some neat little inverts that we cant put in the dt. i also wonder about adding bioballs to the last chamber where the pump is? i have moved the skimmer to the back of the tank (spitting tons of bubbles which is why the tank is cloudy) so i have just the pump in that last chamber.
i found a guy in town that builds overflow boxes out of acrylic so this setup is pending a delivery from him. thanks for your imput and help getting this going.

i dont think its the pump. i had it running before with the pump where it is and the air bublles started after drilling the hole. i think that i drilled the hole too big maybe. i bet if the pump was stronger it wouldnt happen.
