taking a new direction

Thanks. Maybe I'll head out to Home Depot in a little bit and grab a can.
So far I haven't pre-ordered that many frags. I got a pink milli, an ORA pearlberry, tyree setosa, green slimer, and a bird of paradise. I'll have to see what gets posted in the next two weeks. The Saturday of the swap is going to be real busy for me. My reef club is having our annual frag workshop on the same day as the swap. There's always a ton of frags being handed out for free, so we're trying to be back in Pgh for the meeting at 6.
In other news, my buddy Klaus just changed his MH bulbs to 20K Odyssea's. He texted me a picture of his tank, though the bulbs still have some burn in time to get to their true color. First pic is from two weeks ago before we revamped his system, taken from my phone. I think he had two different colors running, but it wasn't as noticeable as it is in the pic. The second is the new bulbs, taken from his phone.

I like the color of the 20k's so I might order them when it's time to do the yearly switcharoo.

Any suggestions on a rock-dwelling clam? I have a derasa in there already, but would like something in the rockwork.

Snapped a few pics of my elusive mandarin:

Yesterday I fiddled around with the reactor and some teflon tape, and still couldn't stop the drip. I also shot PCI an e-mail the other day on operating instructions, which I received this morning and the instructions say to place the reactor in the sump. If I'm supposed to put this thing in the sump, then my fuge just got a lot smaller. The drip is so slow and if I have it hooked up to a pH controller, I wouldn't really worry about the leak.

Or maybe I could fit it in my return pump section. Might have to re-plumb the bottom half of the return, but well worth it, I'm sure.

good looking mandarin! If you HAVE to place the reactor in the sump id say re plumbing not to lose fuge space is your best option...

Thanks! I agree completely about not placing the reactor into the fuge. Re-configuring my plumbing won't be hard at all. I will give me a chance to clean out my SCWD and put something under the return pump to quiet it.

In other news..
I posted a quick comment on the glassholes website about the obnoxious noise their overflow boxes make and Mike is sending me out some enkamat that apparently does a hell of a job quieting them down. As far as customer service, I've never experienced better than GH's. I guess I'm going to start mixing up a water change tonight. Next weekend is the frag swap, though I didn't order much I'm hoping that there's some good stuff there!

Your putting enkamat in your overflow to quiet it down......

I really like glass holes for smaller tanks - they make really good designs and stuff, but if I am ever going to do a much larger system, I think I'm going to have to opt for the bean animal design. Enkamat just seems... weird to use. lol I know for regular standpipes, a maggie muffler would do well...

I only question that because the enkamat isn't fixing the obvious problem of the noisy system......Your basically masking the issue, creating another area of maintenance.

Thanks Gemmy!
The enkamat is what was suggested by the GH's guys. If you guys have any other ideas then let me know...

If I'd have known about / been comfortable enough with doing the beananimal overflow when I set up the tank, then that's what I'd have done. When I upgrade that is what I plan to do.

So are we still planning on meeting up at the frag swap? I'd like to, even if just for a minute...
