Because imo, it's good to continually feed the "good" bacteria, but thats just my 3c.
your 3c is good input indeed and the good bacteria will continue to feed. Per Mr. Spanko
"Raw cocktail shrimpscallopfish are other sources often used. Put whatever it is into a nylon bag or something similar, put the bag in the tank and let it sit for 2-4 days. It will begin to rot. Pull the bag out, all the while holding your nose because it will be smelly, and discard card it. There will be ammonia in the tank." In the beginning cycle, imo, the system needs to kickstart itself. so in turn and at this stage in the game all bacteria is good bacteria untill the tank ia 0 and basically starved itself. Once fish is added the cycle continues in a circle but somewhat faster.

No not you. Take it out. No leave it in. I took it out. No leave it in. No take it out. I put it back. Now take it out. No! Leave it in. Just take it out. I thought it was funny.
Still here, lurking mostly. Not much going on, just learnin'.
LOL... I know that feeling you get before your about to post something that your not sure about how others will take it..

Just tested water and ammonia is almost at 0, nitrate and nitrite are still high.
Remove the shrimp as soon as you see the ammonia spike...if you didn't, no harm done...remove it now.
You will see algae...when you do put the CUC in then, otherwise they have nothing to eat. So AFTER the cycle wait another week and then re-test
, if the tests say 0 on ammonia and nitrite you can add a fish. Just one fish, or two very small fish, don't go crazy and stock the tank all at once. Things are going along nicely...keep it up.

Took the shrimp out today. Now i'm waiting for ammonia to drop to 0 and algae to start growing. And a nitrite looks like it's going down too. So i'm guessing next week i can add CUC.

Lol....... just opened this thread this a.m. and had to laugh. Sorry. Either way, leaving it in or taking out the shrimp, the cycle will start the same, sorry for the confusion. You will soon see that many hobbiest do things differently and share differences (most of the time politely) but we all have one thing in common and that is we enjoy this hobby and take pride in our lil oceans and like to share information. So... with that said, now that you trites are going down watch the trates. IMO, these are the hardest to control in the aquaria.
Once again, why are you so stuck on getting a cuc so quickly? As Flower pointed out they will have nothing to eat right now and will starve and possibly die. Wait until you get some algea, when you get your first swimmin' critter go ahead and get your cuc. (JMO)

I'm not in hurry to get CUC, just planning ahead. From previous set ups, algae grows fast in my tank

yes, yes it does. and (IMO) that is normal, typically you will get a brown algae called diatom bloom and that to will disipate during time. I have to say this rather off topic tho, everyone that posted on your thread were correct. People do things differently and thats okay.
What kind of critters do you plan on having in your set up? Any thoughts on coral? This is the time to do your research on both and the type of cuc you want to add.

I'm putting 3-4 simple, easy to take care coral ( 1 mushroom, 1 coral that look's like a tree and something else) and 1 black clown...that's it. As of CUC, probably 3-4 snails, 1 hermit crab and 2 peppermint shrimps or 1 cleaner shrimp.
By New year/ 2012 I will be switching to Nano Cube 24/28 gallon, which ever i'll get better deal on.

what's the good substitute for shrimps? I had cleaner shrimp and peppermint shrimps before, but they never lasted long.
Snails and hermit crabs lived for long time. I also read that clams are good and peaceful helpers.

You can get a cleaner shrimp, you just have to take the time to acclimate them, like a couple of hours or 3.

I picked up a skunk cleaner shrimp yesterday, way cool! The fish are loving it. A great addition in my opinion. We also have 2 peppermint shrimp and they do a good job cleaning up after everyone.
