Teen driving ...

I drive faster now than I did when I was in highschool. But then in highschool I had an old beat up pickup, that wouldn't do but 75. So I never sped anywear. It didn't have power breaks, so I had to plan ahead to stop. And I think I would have stopped faster if I fred flinstoned it. So I NEVER tailgated. Then I got a jeep, it had breaks but it also have a 4 cylinder, and 33 inch tires, so it didn't get much above 60 mph and if the wind was blowing against me it was 50. But that being said, I think most drivers are morons regardless of age. I think generally guys know they are morons and don't care, girls are so timid driving they are unsafe. Or don't understand they are driving 2 ton balls of metal while they do their makeup, talk on their cellphone and drive and don't understand physics.
And I agree someone under the age of 20 shouldn't be allowed to drive a car that is worth more than 2000 dollars.

Well that definatly fact that most male teens are the ones who get into accidents.
I just hate hearing that because I dont consider myself to be like most teens these days. Alot of those accidents are alcohol related, and I dont drink.
Teens these days ruin it for the more responsible of us.

Maybe I'm an old soul, but I've never had a moving violation, never been in a wreck. I'm going on 9 years of driving.

I couldnt disagree more with that last statement, dont have time to explain now, gotta go shower. (maybe 10k$ cars, then maybe I agree)
Also I HATE timid drivers, that drives me crazy seeing someone doing 5 or 10 miles an hour under the speed limit, or slows down by 20 when going over a bridge.

but overall, adults have access to alot more drugs and alcohol problems while driving then kids could. kids drive nuts because of ego and showing off. but adults got tons of reasons, stupidity, drugs, alcohol, and more drugs (in my area, lol), and more.
Not sure where you are from or what your family life is like but I think you might be a little sheltered and naive. Young people between the ages of 16-20 have access to as many narcotics and alcohol as anyone else. In fact, I'd wager this is the age range where most people experiment, I know I did when I was 17-18 and so did most of my friends.

It makes perfect sense, if guys weren't out trying to show off their 20,000 dollar car or truck and how fast it is, then they wouldn't be doing half the stupid stuff they do. I know I would have.

I totally agree with you on the guy one, except you didnt go into it. Guys are the ones that get in accidents more often...Usually.
But i think guys like to show off more. Guys like to "screech tires" go over speed limits, Or they try to impress girls, or sometimes go WAY over the speed limit if they like the girl, just to see them get scared or something lol and a bunch of other stuff.
You make girls sound so stupid lol... Guys are the ones that see better than they can think. Except they dont care about being safe
So i think girls are better than guys in most cases for driving.

I can tell you when my first kid gets her license (thankfully not for another 14 years
) there will be some pretty serious restrictions on her for a while....No cell phone (or whatever we have in 2021) and a disconnected stereo for at least 6 monthes, and it will be a slow front wheel drive car too(whatever the 2021 equivalent to a Dodge Neon is
)

The question is, what makes you worse, not knowing and doing something, or knowing and still doing something?
Once I watched my female friend, driving her 67 mustang pass someone up going uphill with no way to seewhat was comming. She couldn't understand why that was dangerous. Now 2 days later, my stupid brother did the exact same thing, I ragged on him, he just laughed and said, I got away with it. Who is more dangerous?

I totally agree here. In the town where I went to school there were 2 classifications of teenagers, those who openly experimented drugs and those who hid it. Since I've graduated I have yet to meet someone that either does them regularly or experiments with them, let alone does that when they drive. Also, the majority of intoxicated (note, intoxicated means drunk or under the influence of drugs) drivers aren't adults, based on studies done by the CDC (found on their website):
"Young men ages 18 to 20 (under the legal drinking age) reported driving while impaired more frequently than any other age group (Shults et al. 2002, Quinlan et al. 2005)."
Another statistic:
"At all levels of blood alcohol concentration, the risk of being involved in a crash is greater for young people than for older people (Zador et al. 2000). In 2005, 16% of drivers ages 16 to 20 who died in motor vehicle crashes had been drinking alcohol (NHTSA 2006)."
I have drawn my own conclusions based on things I've experienced throughout my life, everyone else is welcome to draw their own, but statistics rarely lie.

Doesnt matter, the roll of the dice is equally the same. If they continue the same game( game of ignorance and the game of luck), it will be just a matter of time before both roll a 7.

I look at the cars the kids drive in my neighborhood.
Mercedes E class
BMW 330i
Pontiac Solstace
350Z
Cadillac Escalade
Subura WRX
All of them brand new with 10,000 watt sound systems in them.

They are all pretty good kids though even though they are spoiled. I've just got to figure out how to tell my daughter we are not buying her a new Porsche 911 when she turns 16.

Make them buy their own. I valued and took care of the vehicles I worked my butt off to buy more so than the kids whose daddy bought their car for them. They had no concept of the time and effort it takes to buy these vehicles.

They are equally as dangerous. Im not saying that girls never do stupid stuff to, we do. I just think guys like to do that stuff more, which causes more accidents. But both genders are pretty equal i think but guys aged 16-20 or so, USUALLY want to show off and stuff. But yes there are girls that try and show off sometimes or are stupid and dont use common sense. In all people can do stupid things. Not everyone is perfect and i know everyone has done MANY mistakes while driving.
