thats great about the babies. My lfs just had some born, but I dont think they will make it. She has them in a breeders net in the tank with the adults. (They are so tiny and cute ) There were 7 and she said she thought there were three more still in the tank. yes she did try, as they made a fake anemone for them to hide in, and there are only the parents and jaw fish in the tank, but I dont see her taking the time to properly feed them. She told me they had had them born before and one made it.

I glued it and also put netting over it in case it decides to come unglued before it sticks itself to the LR like before. I am going to be patient and let it stay like that for awhile. It is opening up under the net, so its healthy
I will keep you updated.

Yippee!!! I'm so excited!

They are all sold at $12 each. They will go to their new homes in about 2 months or so. I do have to take back what I said yesterday.....I'm now down to 16.
He was the little guy that was not eating two weeks ago but then decided to eat again, he did do some growing but I noticed the other day he stopped eating again and this time he just couldn't hang on. All the other Cardinals look very healthy and eat like no tomorrow so I'm thinking the remaining 16 have a good fighting chance. I do 3 water changes every week, syphone food out when I see it on the bottom and feed 4xs a day, so I think I'm doing everything that is needed, the rest is up to them. I will post some more pics of them soon.

Luckily the father is not holding any new babies at the moment and I hope he stays away from the female for a while, to give me a little break.

IS there any way you can put something in the picture to get a reference to what size they are?
My wife is crazy for teeny tiny things.

I'll see what I can do. We just bought a new camera, Nikon D40x, so I'll play around with it.

The babies are 9 weeks old today.

Here are some more pics and as requested I put a crayon in so you can see how small they are.

Look at all the spots on this one.

After reading this, I just had to go out and get one. I wish now that I would have gotten two, but I'm trying to figure out if I have a male or a female. I don't know how easy that will be though. I would definitely like to try my hand at raising these guys.
Great job, and thanks for posting all of the updates! It was fascinating to follow along. Hope they're all still doing well for you.

It's hard to tell the females and males apart, especially when they are not right next to each other. The mail will have a more square jaw and sometimes has a longer top fin (mine does). Try to make your best guess and if they hang out together with no fighting you more than likely got a pair. If they start fighting then you more than likely have two males. Bangaii Cardinals really are facinating fish to have. They have more character than people give them credit for.

Thanks for the tips on telling them apart! I think I'll try taking a picture of the one I have with me when I go back to the store. It was definitely the smallest one in the tank, and from looking at the jaw, it appears to be female, but I'm not entirely sure.
I really wish I would've been thinking and tried to pick out a pair while I was there. I want to add the other one as quickly as possible so this one doesn't get used to being alone. They only had three in the first place, so at best, I'll be able to choose from the two that are left. They appear to be super healthy and are eating like chow hounds, so I definitely want to grab another one.
