DO you have a pic of mom and dad?
Congrats, and kudos for all the hard work. The only fish I have ever had to "do it" was a pair on FW convicts. They had 30+ babies every month or so. None ever survived, parents ate em!

Sounds like they are doing a mating dance!
Just watch them to be sure though, if you start seeing fins ripped then it might be you have two males fighting you need to sepearte them.

OK, babies are now 4 1/2 weeks old. I lost one yesterday so I am now down to 19.
The first picture is with all 19 babies. Can you find all of them?

Happy babies!!!

And my close up shot of one of the little wigglers. Looking more like mom and dad every day.

So far 13 of the babies have been claimed.
I'm selling them for $12 each to local reefers. I won't be shipping any as I don't want to take the chance of them dying. However, with huge interest from local reefers it doesn't look like I'll have any available to ship. BUT, if you or anyone else on this forum are local let me know and I'll put you on the list.

Hi Dennis, well it's hard to see but the male will have a more square jaw line. It does sound like you have a pair so just wait and see. If you come to a point that one of them won't eat look at the jaw. If it's swallon you not only have a mated pair, but they have in fact mated.
So good luck and let me know what happens. I had my pair for about 7 months before they produced eggs, so it may take a while. As long as they are not fighting I think you are good.

Your Awsum,,
Well i dont know, the bigger of the two looks like a boxer, with this big mechanical lookin jaw, and the littler one ,, its jaw looks more,, like straight,, i dont know either, BUT,,
i do know, they hang out together, and once in awhile they will be at other ends of the aquarium,, ,, but no battle wounds,
My wife walked by the aquarium with a new pair of shoes, and i did see the littler one follow her along the front of the aquarium, and the bigger of the two, didnt pay any attention,(LOL)haaaa heeeee

Sounds to me like you have a pair.
The males jaw does look more mechanical and the fact the little one (we'll assume the female) liked your wifes shoes says it all!
I hope you can report back soon with a mouth full of babies. Just a side not, it takes about 1 year for Bangaiis to reach sexual maturity, so if you have a young pair it may take some time.

I lost two babies since the last post, but I still have 17 and here are some pics taken today. Looks to me like they are getting some spots.

Here is a pic with all 17 babies.

I just thought this was a cool shot.

Another close up.

I agree also, raising cardinals (or any other fish that matter) seems like a lot of fun!

Thats so great!!! I have some more good news for ya. I got another frag off the mystery coral. I glued it and also put netting over it in case it decides to come unglued before it sticks itself to the LR like before. I am going to be patient and let it stay like that for awhile. It is opening up under the net, so its healthy
I will keep you updated.
