Thanks.
I haven't had mine going but two days, so.... I haven't seen that yet, it is very well ventliated its self, one fan on one side for intake, and other side is for venting!! I could answer a bit better in a week or so, but aloha, could field this one better!!!

Increase in heat.... not yet.....only have it on 2 hours a day, but it sits about 4 in from the water to the glass, and the MH light is up another 3 in so the light is 7 in from the water!

Mine is over a 16 gallon, so I was really concerned about the heat issue but it hasn't been a problem at all. This fixture has awesome fans that are great at dispersing the heat. The only problem I could see is in the summer when it is really hot and humid. Luckily we have central air so it shouldn't make a difference for me. Overall I love this fixture!
The fixture sits on "legs" about 4-5" above the tank. I love the fact that it has 3 seperate switches for the MH and for the white and blue moonlights. The only thing is if you have both moonlights on at the same time the tank is quite bright. Great for viewing, but too bright for the critters IMO. I usually just keep the blue on throughout the night because even the white by themselves are kind of bright.

I only am going to run my blues during the night and I run my whites an hour prior to the MH turning on, to wake up the corals, and keep them on the whole time with the MH then go back to blue at night!!
Well at least that is what I did last night!!

Sounds like a good plan. I need to get another timer, and when I do will probably have a similar schedule.
Although the whites won't do anything with the MH on. I tried turning on the blues once with the MH to see if it looked any different and it didn't.

I just figured that I would let the whites feel like they were important..... so they had a long job to do also, Right now they are the only ones on from 1 till 9 pm, MH are on from 11-1 their two hours of fame!!!!! So right now they do a big part! Yeah I have them all on timers, their own on each, and I they seem to be doing well!!!!

That is too funny! I didn't even think of running them so I had something to look at while I was breaking it in. Good thinking!
(and I'm sure they appreciate the stage time) :joy:

i read about alot of people supplementing their mh's with pc's.. gives u more light and fish/coral wont go from light to dark to light to dark when the mh's aint runnin..
once i get my pc's im gonna break my tank in with em, runnin the normal output flourecents as well as those for at least a day.
i didnt make the big plunge into mh YET..
gimme a year, i want the tank to be established b4 i start spendin tons of money on coral, lol.

I'm getting ready to purchase this light for my 12 gallon eclipse as well. I was all set to go with the 75Watt because I thought the 150Watt would be too much. What do you guys think?
Also, if I don't have any corals yet, do I need to ramp up the light or can I start using it right away?
Sorry to infringe on your thread, feel free to tell me to post my own topic.

Not a prob.... jump right in!!!!

With the 75W on a 12 G you would be just right!! Cause you would have 6.25 Watts per gallon....... and you could house alot of great stuff with that!!! And with the 150W you would be double this at 12.50W per gallon..... and I think a BIT over kill.... I think on your 12 gallon you would be WAY Happy with the 75W MH set up.

Not infringing at all. I feel the same way a lot of times, but don't know how we're supposed to learn if we don't ask the questions?
I agree with Jerth that the 75W on your 12 gal should be plenty. I just pulled the trigger today on the 150W for my 30 gal. Can't wait to get it! :joy:

Same as you the 20" Sunpod HQI 150W. I was considering the JEBO Odyssea for a lot less $, but aftere reading a lot on the boards here, it seemed like they might be not great quality.
