my 150w arrives tomorrow. Hopefully it's not too hard to assemble the mounting legs and I know it's going to be hard not to want to run the halides a lot right from the start. Can't wait.

No assembly required! Each leg is a solid piece which just slides on in tracks in the bottom of the fixture.
Just pay attention to their direction when you slide them in because their is a "left" and "right". Just look at your tank and you'll be able to tell which is which.

Well I do have a bit of a complaint..... but it is only slight.... It doesn't have any Actenic lighting!!!! I am going to supplement some in, going to buy another fixture tomorrow, so I can get the sunrise and sunset effect!!! Slight complain......VERY SLIGHT!!!!

I could see myself going for something along the same lines too. So glad I saw this thread. I had no idea I needed to acclimate the tank to the new light intensity. I would've probably fried everything!

Hey Jerth,
Just found this thread. Looks great!!!
I was also thinking about the "big wake" up with just MH. I am kicking around what to do. I have found combo MH/PC lights made by Coralife and also one by Finnex. Did you look into either of these?

I didn't cause I wasnt aware of the actinic lighting when I started my quest! I am sorry.... But if they offer the actinic's and MH's too, they are a steal!!

if u dont have a top on the tank, keep an eye out for anything rusting that has to do with the lighting.. rust = bad connection.. bad connection = heat buildup.. heat buildup = FIRE!!!

Sweet man!!! How do those attach to the tank? I was thinking of having a piece of glass cut to fit in the rim of mine when I get the lights. Would that work with the way they attach? Prolly just 3/16" tempered, which would leave another 3/16" to attach fixtures. What do you think? Deal or no deal?

It was a perfict fit to fit on the inside rim of the tank..... so it just sets right in and sits very snug..... you have to pull it out.... cant knock it in! Yeah you could just set them on top.... and the mh have a peice that goes on the out side and top of the rim.... If you cant figure out what I am saying I will take a pix of it and show ya!!! But yeah you would be fine with that thin of glass!

I didn't like the set up I had with the MH in back and the Actinics in the front.... so I switched them, but I had a bit of a problem...... where props for the hood went, that held it up, there is a lip on it preventing it from fiting just right.... so I went and bought velcrow and velcrowed my actinics in to place!!!!
