the global warming swindle

"At the Boggy Creek Hydrogen Fueling Station in Orlando, the hydrogen is produced on-site. "We are doing a process called steam methane re-forming, which is natural gas to hydrogen," said Puneet Verma, manager of biofuels and hydrogen at Chevron Technology Ventures, one of the players involved in the project."
This is a total hoot! Steam methane reforming is a "green" fuel source?
So take CH4 (methane) and mix it with high temp steam to get H2 and CO. Then convert the CO ( toxic) to CO2, ( toxic, greenhouse gas). Sounds like a shell game to me.
http://www.getenergysmart.org/Files/...eReforming.pdf
Now, we still end up with the same end products, and had to burn more coal, oil or NG to make the steam, are we ahead of the game?
When ALgore buys a small house I may believe.

I've said it before on these boards, and I'll say it again: Why are people so against prioritizing green energy sources even if the scientific evidence for global warming was as poor as Bill O'Riley or whoever is harping on these posts incorrectly thinks it is? .
Perhaps you should maybe listen to what Oreilly has to say about global warming before making lame statements. Perhaps once the promoters of CO2 warming come up with a model that can correctly indicate what the temp was last week more people will believe what they say about 10,000 years ago.
Other than that I agree with ENCOURAGING green power use and alternative fuels. Even if alcohol production does create more pollution than using it in cars saves it does reduce oil consumption which is a good thing/

I'm not convinced using Ethanol reduces oil consumption... yet. I don't think we're there yet. As far as I know it takes more oil energy to produce Ethanol than the energy Ethanol provides.

Depends. Most power plants (maybe all) don't run on refined petroleum products. We have more coal and natuaral gas that nearly every other country in the world and thats the majority of our power generation.
I thought seriously about buying a farm here a couple years ago and converting it to sugar beet production. Making ethenol from sugar is pretty efficient and if you're jonesing for a cocktail you can just siphone it outta your gas tank

I am surprised the coal gasification hasn't taken off yet. As cool as biodiesel is the stuff they make from coal is even better. It works in jet engines and diesels.

I'm hoping nuclear power and electric car technologies take off soon. There have been some great advances but not enough backing.

They need to pick their poison until technology catches up with energy demand. I really dislike being dependent on the Middle East for energy. I believe this is our #1 national security defect.

agreed, but the only other place we can really go is north to Alaska. and that isnt cheap. not that normal drilling is cheap.
what i really want to do when i get older is either build a sod house, which are just sweet looking, or build a mound house i think they are called. pretty much a house under the ground.

Now we're talkin'! A mound house would be excellent.
I still believe Nuclear could be a viable short term solution while we explore other technologies.
It took some work, but this is from my energy bill:

Most of our oil comes from South America, not the middle east..
Drilling in AK is a sure bet...Even most of the Citizens are for it..The enviro crowd says it will mess up the Migri. route of the Caribou though..Boohoo Caribou..

My favorite is the stash of oil 46 miles off the coast of Key West. They say there is enough oil there to provide for the US for the next 16 years. The EPA says we can't drill there. Meanwhile China is there drilling their hearts out only to refine it and sell it to us.

True....I meant as a whole, South America countries vs Middle East countries
The combined effort I suppose..
Was that a pic of your Electric Bill?

Yep, that's from my electric bill. I like Nuclear power

Yeah, if you add up Mexico & Venesuela it's more than Saudi, but it's not "most". I concede. I'm still not enjoying being dependent on Saudi for our oil. I don't like it at all.
