Well, I put a piece of shrimp on its polyps and it drags the shrimp to one of its mouths and the shrimp disappears.

Some ppl have good luck with elegance but most just die for unknown reasons. Some say it's because we keep our tanks too skimmed and they need some of the stuff we are removing.

It is also proposed to be a very specific pathogen, as in recent years people have noticed a decline. And even if they had an established growing elegance, when they added a new one both were dead in a matter of weeks. I would be wary at this time.

is it some sort of chemical warfare between the two diffrent corals, I have heard that a uv steralizer helps break down such chemicals that would do harm. or is it one of those goniopora like corals that people cant keep alive. where is its natural habitat. if it is a lagoonal coral than a "dirtier" tank would be better for it. but i cant see why it would not benefit from a cleaner tank otherwise?

It is hard to say. I read a report from noted coral guy Eric Borneman where he had an established elegance in a tank, and recently added a new one that was one the same system, but in a different tank...and both up and died in two weeks or so. The problem with elegance has been a recent thing...which is why I think it is of interest to people.
