not sure im just starting out. What do you think. I am buying 2 250W MH and i already have 1 175W MH. the 250W's on the outside and the 175 in the centre. I have a 5 foot tank thats like 22'' tall. Heres the sump DONE! :jumping:

I have the Sump set up so that the water comes down from the tank to the left side and goes under then over then under then last over to the return pump. On the right i have the refuge that i know is small but it will just overflow down to where the pump is. I will T the return line and have is split so that some of the return goes back to the refuge.
I know the setup is not much but i am just posting all these pictures so that when a rocky or a first timer comes across it they have an idea of what to do. That all i have been doing is looking at everyone else pictures so give me an idea and to help me learn. If this helps one person then JOB WELL DONE!

I really like the look you went with .
You said its bomb proof. If you built another one would you do anything else to it as far making it more solid ? I just ask because I have the same plan for the stand of my 300 but was thinking of going with 2x6's and 4x4 posts in the corners , as well as cross braces runing the short way across the top . Did you put a sheet of plywood down across the top?
Sorry to ask so many questions . But I'm sure you understand the thought of that much water hitting the floor is scarry.

they were just pieces of plywood that i primed and painted... as you can see one one is up! I bought the hings from Home Depot. Cheap like 3 bucks or something...

I have great faith in this stand construction. When i put the 2x4's in the corners and screwed them in..I also used construction glue... Its a browny tan colour to just make it that much stronger with the screws...If you have the right spacing between each column then there is pretty of strength there... i will find you a link for a guys stand on here that is for a 300 gal and he did the same thing...

nice stand and tank.... i just up graded to from a 75 to a oceanic 110 RR ,i also built my own stand and sump as well, i used some old 3x4s for my stand, oh yes i think a bomb could withhold this one!! it's built a little stronger then my other 1 but i did it the right way, still working on the outside of it, since it's a RR i'm going to run it all with pvc pipe and have external pumps for the return and the closed loop, i hope to have pics when i get around to everything , after the holidays. hope urs works good. keep updated pics...

So far .... 2 Clowns, 1 Yellow Tang, i think its a Yellow spotted Gobie.. Hermit crabs, 1 snail.....oh ya and some kind of shrimp. I want to get a Powder Blue tang soo bad.. I will buy him soon. the gobie is a trouble maker though.. He is always making huge hole in the bottom and spitting it all over my rocks.. he's cool though. You think the powder tang will be ok with corals.. I want a couple large fish but the rest small.. the make less of a mess i think... And it makes your tank look more active. IMO...... anyways anyone have any good fish i should add to my collection?
