JD Power tells the same story....well, basically the same. Japanese cars consistently rank higher than others. Period.
So, every poll and customer survey is incorrect and the Japanese cars are junk, but we stupid 'mericans buy them anyway? People, give yourselves a little credit. The stats on customer satisfaction come from the surveys that you get 6 months after the purchase. Are people lying on the surveys to make their crappy cars look good in the reviews? I hardly think so. From experience and having grown up in a strict "buy American" home, I can honestly say that my Japanese cars lasted longer with fewer problems than non Japanese cars.
How many surveys shall I link to before you guys admit that there seems to be a pattern of people highly satisfied with their Japanese cars? I simply pulled a survey on 2010 best buys. I'm sure there are hundreds of other categories.
Oh, and before I drop $60K+ on a luxury sports car, I want to know I'm getting the most bang for my buck. The Honda Fit is prolly the only car in that class and won by default.
I don't think they are junk, I just see no difference in their build quality than any other car I've had, except for the 70's era US stuff. I got killed driving a 95 Nissan pickup. I seriously doubt being in a Ranger or S10 would have left me any better off but having driven a 94 Ranger which I owned, 91 S10 which I owned, a 94 Toyota and the Nissan for work I thank god I wasn't in the Toyota or S10. Those were flimsy compared to the others.
Forgot the point of the post. The company I worked for had a bunch of small trucks and according to the guy at corporate they weren't buying any more toyotas because they gave them the most trouble. They had Ford and Nissans mostly but were trying out S 10's about the time I left. It was pretty much a toss up as far as which of those two held up best. But the king of the hill as far as longevity was a Mitsubishi, that thing had an insane amount of miles on it without a major failure. When I got in the wreck that thing was still being used daily and had close to 300,000 on it. Not bad for a 4 cylinder 4x4. Of course the other Mitsis they bought at the same time didn't hold up so well. They also had some Suburu Justys that were rolling death traps but they held up great mechanically. The trim and ******** was crap but they would get you where you needed to go.
