I believe it is our culture and has been for years. I fought all the time in school it was common in our area but we did not shake hands afterwords for those of ya who did were you all living in "MAYBERRY"
If you turn on MSNBC any night of the week at 7 p.m. you will see this kind of stuff but 100 times worse all over the country/world.
People are living in a dream world where they think kids do not fight and should be sent to prison for life for a fist fight. I agree this was not appropriate at all but where are the parents of all these kids when this happened ? No one is allowed in my home without a parent here nor is my child allowed to goto someone Else's house unattended for any amount of time. My oldest passed away she would be 30 this year my youngest ( adopted my grandson ) is 8. I have them from 30G, 18G, 16B, 12G AND the new addition muh little man 8 We monitor all their myspaces and have passwords set on their pc's and filters.
The problem again is culture now it is not ok to spank your kids or discipline them so we have taken the power from the parents and given it to the children.
As for them getting life c'mon read more about it the kids should be punished but life is completely ridiculous when child molesters do 2 to 3 years...
Let's get it together as a country and as a people and fight for what is right in our judicial system put the time with the crime not go haywire over a kid getting smacked around some ( she has no lasting issues from what I have read and according to her myspace she is fine and on one of the girls top 10's still on myspace...

Some have been removed but I think most are still up.
Punishment needs to fit the crime as stated above some people need to calm down a bit before they say fry them.
Man I babble
No level-headed judge or jury would ever give life to any of these kids for what they did to this girl. That's just the media sensationilzing the facts, and what could be given to them based on the laws that are on the books in the State of Florida. As I said before, since these girls are getting so much media attention, there's no way the girl's who committed the most serious acts (the one who gave her the concussion, the one's you saw pounding her in the video, and the one's refusing to let her leave) will defintely get some jail time. Maybe less than 6 months, or a maximum of 5 years. The two boys that were lookouts, and the one's doing the video that didn't hit her - 5 to 10 years probation, maybe 6 months to a year in jail. It's just a sad statement that all these kids involved will have their futures ruined because of this. Criminal records will keep them out of the good colleges, and many businesses will have nothing to do with them.
One things for sure. I bet they quit laughing and joking around the minute the bars shut on them, and they found out they would be in jail for more than an overnight stay. Did all the parents post the $30K bond to get them out? If it were my kid, I'd have reservations spending my hard-earned money to let her off that easy. Make her sit in there and wait for a trial. She's gonna get jail time for this, so it can be 'timed served'. If she did only get probation, or off scott free, it would still be a lesson. I'd bet she'd never do something that stupid again if she knew she'd be stuck in a jail cell for doing it.
