Hi there,
Just wondering what the point is on these comments? Not sure I understand the significance or the statements. How do they affect or alter the purpose of these forums? People can't stay looged in at all times (24 hrs a day, 7 days a week). When I was in college I could only stay looged in a few minutes at a time. Some times only a few times a day. I do not see that affect the post on the threads. If it's good advise that is posted than you take it (no matter from who it came). If it's bad advise you do not follow it (once again, n matter who it came from). You lear about the people posting here from the advise they post (if it makes sence or not), not by how long they are looged during the day. Just my opinion though, like everyone else who post here.
You have no idea what I am talking about do you?

I'm glad that this thread has gotten a lot of people thinking. I think that a chat room is a great idea. I know they have one on another forum that I frequent.
However, I can see the down side of having a chat room... because a lot of people would abuse the ability to post links. I think the profanity can be deleted or changed though. :D It's an idea - but then again - no matter how much people on here want a chat room, it's ultimately up to the owner.

Here's a partial answer to your question SnakeBlitz..... I have discovered that some of these "guests" are actually members that are logging in/out so that the rest of us cannot see where they are at. I know of several "very active" members that are playing the game right now. They stay..."logged out" until they are ready to post, but if you post anything that sparks their interest, they will respond lightning fast, then log out instantly. This is cowardly IMO, but just thought I would throw this out there so that you know that not all of those numbers are guests just lurking....rather the same people we corespond with every day, just that some of them want to hide behind the curtain....

I don't understand....Why would they do this, and why does it matter? What do you mean by "so they can't see where they are at" Why would they care if we could see where they are at? I want to understand.

I would be honored to introduce myself here
Yeah, I'm a ghost. I am members of other forums (I have read the rules-don't worry!) I really love rays, but don't exactly have the money to fund a big enough tank for that. As a matter of fact, I found this site while I was googling rays. As I was busy on other things, I kinda used Saltwaterfish.com more as reference material than anything else. It's a good site, compared to others, it remains relatively clean and the information is great. So I've been ghosting maybe a month.
Anyway, I don't consider myself a noob at this, but of course there is always more to learn. I currently have a 30 gallon nano that is kinda at a standstill...I've been busy. I want to start focusing more attention on it though. I hope you guys can help me and I also hope that I can help some others on here. Oh, and by the way I'm 15. I hope not everyone here is an adult...but with the seemingly millions of members, I think not
So I can't wait to get started!

Welcome to the forums, Pez on Fire!
When I registered on SWF.com, I already had a number of years of experience in saltwater fish keeping so I didn't feel completely lost. Outclassed maybe, in awe of what other members had accomplished certainly, eager for more knowledge for sure but still familiar enouigh to jump right in and start posting! I think that some people are likely afraid to ask questions, or unsure of their knowledge, and just don't feel comfortable "coming out" (not that there's anything wrong with that
) and being public. I say to y'all: Stop lurking and join the party-you will almost always find helpful replies even to questions that have been posted many, many, times before and don't worry, we won't bite. Not much anyway. It is fun to be involved and who knows, you might learn/teach something.
P.S. Cool avatar!

Thanks. I already started diving in. It's fun. Didn't exactly pick the best hour to do it though...

Some of these unregistered users could just be users who get on the site on a different computer and not realize theyre not signed on until the go to post

I want to add something too...If you do register don't post the same question/thread in 5 different places! Read the headers, figure out the best place and post it there.

Random thread..but true. I wish there was more active people to talk to! Especially in forums like the seahorse one and the other smaller forums, it's too quiet!

Agreed. Some areas are just dead. I'd love for the inverts area to come alive.

Eh, I just use the "new posts" button and "todays posts" under quick links. I spread out everywhere. I don't limit my knowledge to one specific area either, I really enjoy the entire hobby, but admittedly, I am addicted to equipment. :D
Welcome PEZ.
