With that said, let's not start an Irvin argument, please! I think we all have certain feelings about Irvin that are unchangable. Let's just leave them at that. :happyfish
i agree on ALL points... just thought i would bring it up because this is a Romo discussion... nuff said about MI...

Yeah, I figured I would look it up first-hand so I could judge it for myself. Here it is:
"He doesn't look like he's that type of an athlete," Irvin said of Romo. "But he is. He is, man. I don't know if some brother down in that line somewhere, I don't know who saw what or where, his great-great-great-great-grandma ran over in the 'hood or something went down."
Patrick tried to suggest to Irvin that he shouldn't go there, but Irvin was having none of it, continuing:
"If great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandma pulled one of them studs up out of the barn, 'Come on in here for a second,' you know, and they go out and work in the yard. You know, back in the day."

This must be racial discrimination month. First Michael Richards' horrible rant, and now this terrible statement. Hopefully, this nonsense cools down.

You guys must be joking!
Clearly, that is not being seriously said and he is trying to be funny. It may not have been funny but it certainly wasnt being said seriously. Get the audio and i guarantee he is laughing thruout the entire statement.
Your comparing this to someone using the n-word VERY hatefully NUMEROUS times???? We know you dont like Irvin but you gotta come up with something better than this to degrade him for. Terrible statement?!? It was a bad joke at worst.

yes... but he must maintain a certain level of professionalism while on the air... this isnt the first nor will it be the last that he does something to get him closer to a pink slip... this really has nothing to do with my person opinion of him, but the general public will soon tire of his presence...
i really do not want to get into the MI discussion... we all have our opinions of him as discussed in a couple other threads... and i really dont want this thread to be shut down...
BTW... Salisbury and Hodge just called Romo "the HOTTEST player in the NFL"...

Looking past Irvin, I personally just don't think it is something that should be said on the air, no matter who is saying it. Saying it joking around in the locker room is a different story.

"Hottest" is tough to say with LT having what 19 tds in his last 6 games?.
Right now, other than Tomlinson he is also the "BEST" player in the league.

I agree, RU. No reason to start a fight over it. I appreciate you bringing the situation to my attention though.

It is a shame that Romo did not start the season. If he is really as good as he is playing now (which he seems he is), the Cowboys would be doing even better and his stats would be incredible.

the way they said it was kinda like Tomlinsons production is a given... the way that Romo is playing in his first 5 games... they also compared to Brees (who just set the 2nd most passing yards in a 5 game span 3495 yds) there isnt a hotter QB out there...

I agree but i think Irvin and Deion and a few others are hired and expected to act and talk "ghetto". ESPN certainly didnt hire Irvin to talk and act like Joe Montana. He appeals to a large section of the NFL audience that enjoys how he talks and acts. Thats why they have these ridiculous football video games where you barely even play, the whole theme is to get your players bling and pimped out houses. I'll nbever understand who buys a football game to pimp out a players house or car?????
Believe me, i think that "jacked up" segment is the dumbest most ridiculous thing i have ever seen but ESPN does it because they know a large part of their audience loves it even if alot also hate it.

Still wanna stick to this statement Scuba?
Yes..any football GM relaizes that Manning would be the logical choice. You are placing your hat on just a few games. Romo has yet to prove he can win a key divisional game...he has that chance next week. He has yet to get to the playoffs...he has a good chance this year.
He did contribute to a key loss against the Giants this year...plus the team did not get the job done against the redskins.
he is playing well...but he is still not a top notch QB in my mind yet.....he has to do it a few more times for me.
Regardless, you would still be hard-pressed to find one GM that would take him over Eli Manning if given the choice....my opinion
I am holding out to see how he fairs over the next couple weeks.
He best be ready to light up the score board in two weeks against that "horrible" team.

I understand that he hasnt played enough games to be considered a top notch QB for a fact(despite how incredible he looks!) but for the life of me I still cant figure out how Eli has proven this to you??? Eli has done nothing but ride a great team that has found a way to win despite him. 3 years later and he still looks completely lost!
As far as "helping" lose the Giants game, Romo had taken exactly 2 snaps in an nfl game before, took 0% of the 1st team reps in practice that week and was thrown in at halftime of a MNF game against a defense playing GREAT. Not exactly an ideal situation, despite that he still played decent except for a few mistakes. He certainly didnt look completely lost like ELI does on a weekly basis.
As far as the Redskins game, you can hardly blame that on Romo. The correct description would be that we lost that game DESPITE how Romo played.
I cant even begin to fathom how many yards we might get against that "defense" and believe me, i use that term lightly
From what ive seen though, Romo may not have to put many points on the board. All of the Brees int's will provide us with enough points to win.

Ahhh, the jealousy of an organization's fans that has NEVER, EVER, IN ITS ENTIRE EXISTENCE had a player the caliber of Michael Irvin

If memory serves...parcells has not faired too well against his former "pupils" over the years.
I never blaimed the Redskins loss on Romo...as TO contributed more to that loss than Romo..as did special teams and a head case kicker. Romo simply has no victories against the only two dvisional opponenets he has faced.
I can see it now...the Saints game comes down to a big kick from Vanderfoot.....I wonder if Parcells would even send that guy out?
Cundiff is kicking for New orleans now on kickoffs. The game will be nationally televised in 2 weeks. I do beleive it will be a good game and close..could come down to a field goal......or in the case of Vanderfoot...a missed one.

I have deleted my comment at the request of others and I have nothing more to add regarding my feeling of MI.

I actually like the jacked up segment. Too often networks highlight tremendous offensive plays/performances...but will not give the defense its due. hard hits are great too watch and I would like the segment to continue.
No comment on the rest.......been there done that.
