Currently accepting appreciative strokes to my ego.
Good thing sammy isn't around here.........he might want to offer more than just appreciative ones. ;)
Good idea on the tang background. I will start recommending it post haste! Get that woman a raise. (Not you sammy)

Dang I wished I joined this thread earlier, seems like it was fun! Thats what you get for the time difference...
My vote would go three ways - Yellow, Regal and PB. A lot of people underestimate the power of the yella, but it is an amazing dash of colour that from a long distance you can appreciate and looks great. The Regal is apparently one of the bluest things alive, and healthily they can look amazing. The PB is also very attractive but a bit of a maddam when it comes to conditions.
I think it is important that we respect each other a little more on here, if whatshisface wants to put a yellow in a 29g let him, its his perogative, yes you think its cruel (as do I), but it is HIS choice. Some members on this board are a little too quick to condemn - btw I am doing a phD in Theology - nothing to do with marine fish but doesnt mean I know it any the less!
All the best,
Tim

Some filler pictures from Fishbase on non-yellow, PBT, or regal tangs :D For kicks, just go to Fishbase.org and type in Acanthurus in the genus spot. Wowzers.

Scopas (not the best picture, but a pretty overlooked tang): http://filaman.uni-kiel.de/Summary/S...iesname=scopas

Hi Tim,
When dealing with live animals, it is tough to do. People don't really get so heated when people are buying lights, or a filter, or whatever, unless it is really insufficient for what they want to do and lives are at risk. But what is the limit? If someone wants that tang in a 10g tank, do we still say "whatever you want to do, honey, its your tank?" I am not out to make people feel good about their choices, sometimes they have to know that their choices are just really bad, and other living creatures pay the price. It is tough. Brings up all sorts of philosophical, ethical, moral issues.
I mean, if people want to do crazy things on skateboards and get themselves busted up...sure, your choice. Stupid, but a choice. Horrible singers want to willingly go on American Idol? FUN- NEEE. People want to keep a kitten in a 10g tank? No. Limit. The difference between hurting oneself and inhumane treatment of another in your care. And to me, putting a tang in a small tank is approaching that situation. And Simon is becoming my roll model. :D ;) (evil laugh tape playing)

ophiura -
another idea, instead of having tangs background to tank, have them as background to computer!
I have two great pic's someone let me borrow as backgrounds. I get to see lots of diff tangs together.
or tang screen saver, with the screen being the tank...or just vist lfs's often (we used to take weekly trips and go to about 3 or 4 of them so i could watch the fish)
It's diff mind set. To some people they are just fish, to me there are pets I care about and spend time with. I like spoiling my fish with lots of room to play.
I'm done now. I'll leave you guys alone.
