Not cow dooo....Cow poop is layered (thus plopping down from 3-4 ft. in the air). This looks like a small black bear. Could be a deer, although deer poop is usually in pellets (unless they have gotten into a nice supply of berries somewhere).

Don't tell him it's a bear!!! Now he'll never go out into his backyard again.

Looks like cow poo to me too...are there any Elk out there? Does your neighbor have a cow that may have gotten out? Did you look for any foot prints?

I'd bet hog. Seen enough of that nasty stuff when my brother was raising them. Any chance you can see any prints near the pile?

No prints, no tracks, it's hot as hell in Georgia and the poo was on rocky gravel soil, the ground isn't soft enough to make an imprint.

I'm betting on Black Bear. Do you have a bird feeder? My mother used to have to put hers in the shed at night, or the bear would steal it. They are also famous for getting into garbage cans.
No worries! As someone already mentioned, they are not aggressive unless protecting their young.
Oh, Welcome to the sticks!

Ok, it does look a lot like those pics of the bear poo, and there are a lot of black bears in the Southeast. I'd be rather careful if I were you. Check around your house to make sure there isn't an open water source or an open garbage, or even if you store your garbage in the back of a pickup til you can get to the dump site.
A bear is a bear, so lets not suggest that they aren't dangerous.
