Update on Bubble Coral.

I purchased a Cat's Eye Bubble Coral from my LFS 2 days ago. I was concerned by the way it looked and was wondering if it will survive or not. I noticed it shrunk while they were taking it out of the tank to put in the bag, as you will see in the picture. and the other picture will be what it looks like today after a 5g water change in my 20g tank.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Below is what it looked like first, including Below is what it looked like after my water change and
when I brought it home from the LFS. the most I've seen it look like a Bubble.

In the front it looks like it has some tissue recession.....I had one that looked WORSE then that, and is a real beauty right now
Make sure it is not bothered, and has a light to moderate flow on it.,....DO NOT let any bubbles be blown away in other words. Don;t mess with it, and make sure your water qaulity stays good.

Thanks again Meowzer. What would you recommend for me to do in general for it other then flow on it. It has a light-moderate flow because my filter is for a 50g and it creates a pretty good current already and my Bubble coral is close enough that it is in the flow. As for water quality, just stick with constant water changes?. I have not touched it since I placed the coral there. What exactly did you do to yours?

I left it alone....LOL.....
what are your water parameters? Is this a new tank? What type of lights do you have?

Tank has been running for 5 months. I added the beneficial bacteria when I set it up.
Lighting: AquaticLife T5 Fluorescent 4 bulb/4 Lunar LED. Model # LF2-24
Ammonia: 0PPM
Nitrite: 0PPM
Nitrate: 3PPM
PH: 8.0
I need a new Alkalinity test kit which I will get within a day.
Those numbers are from yesterday. Will test tomorrow morning because I don't think it will be accurate now since I just did a water change.
Did you just do more frequent water changes as well?

NOPE...as long as your not having algae issues, and your water paremeters are good, just do regular bi-weekly water changes
KEEP IN MIND.....mine did not get better over night.....it was a lengthy recovery, but you will begin to notice some changes...especially if you stare at it as much as I did mine LOL

lol. I can spend all day staring at my tank because theres always something new my fish or my crabs do. Especially when my nassarius snails come out, they like to go on top of each other and they flip around lol.
Only algae in my tank was some Red hair Algae, Green Hair which the green is gone but red hair is still there a LITTLE but opposite end of my tank. There is Algae on the back glass of my tank which is a pain to clean sometimes and never is 100% clean on the back glass.

Sounds like you just wait now.....test your water periodically too, and don't try to feed it while it looks like that

I just put in some brine shrimp to feed my clowns and dragonet. Once the bubble looks like yours and healthy then i'l start feeding it. Any good pointers on to keep the tank almost algae free? if that is possible at all lol.

As long as there is no algea growing on the skeleton of the coral then you should be ok. Put your hand around the coral to check the flow. Be sure that you feel something blowing on your hand. It is best to just leave it alone right now. Do you have any large inverts that could bump into it or nock it around?

Monsinour. There is no algae on the skeleton. there is virtually no algae on my rocks, especially the one it's on. Algae for me just mainly grows on my back glass, bit of the front and sides. There was a little bit of red hair algae on the sand which is gone now. I had a skeleton from another coral which I'm not sure what it was called neither did the employees at the LFS. It died within a week or so. Was very small and didn't look that great in shape. It was for $10 so I got it. That had A LOT of algae on it recently. I took that out today. My Horseshoe crab sometimes likes to swim through the tank but if he ever bumped into the coral or the skeleton as of now it would not move the Coral at all. I have some hermits that are not large enough to move it if they bump into it.

Meowzer. I have 3 Scarlet hermits, 2 Zebra hermits, 1 Green Leg hermit, 2 Nassarius snails, 3-4 Bumble Bee snails, and I had 2 turbo snails but I think one or they both died from falling on their backs over night. Not exactly sure about that. One might be alive but i'm not sure.

Personally...I would not get any more hermits....I would get a couple more nassarius, astrea and cerith snails

I have plenty of hermits, I was thinking on getting more snails sometime soon to balance it out with an equal number of hermits and snails.
