Wow update. So im not entirely sure how it happened but somehow my blue tang managed to jump out of my closed canopy reef tank.???? I'm still not sure how it managed to jump out. But the fish must have made a 5.5-6' foot fall to the ground. Then it managed to flop its way 16' away from the tank into the dining room .Luckily the house keeper heard all the flopping and got me in time to put the tang back in the tank! phew! Hes good now :) and even relaxed enough to have a hearty lunch of Prime reef and Nori

What lights did you use on your old 72g bow front to keep all of these corals looking so good and did you use the canopy with it or not? Thx

Hey TooSalty. I just used a 48" powercompact fixture with 4 65 watt bulbs> 2 were 10K
and 2 were actinic. N canopy... just the glass top and the lighting fixture. The new tank has 3 250 watt 10k XM metal halides and 2 110 watt actinic VHO with icecap ballasts

Wow, fantastic pics! Not of the car, though...sorry to hear about that, but glad you're safe!
I didn't read the first post or two, and when when I came to the pic of the leafy sea dragon I did a double take -- had to go back and re-check. Wondered where the heck you managed to get a protected species for a personal tank!!

Hey Saltn00b... its a pentax k10D 10.2 megapixel... with 18-55 kit lens and 70-300 telephoto macro lens. I had no real classes or training soooo i guess its a great camera to start with and grow with. Its also weather proof for dust, rain, snow, ect. I've taken it into the forest and on speed boats with no problem. Durable and fun to use.

lol thanks. the Purple tang actually came from the friend that I've been discussing who had his tank crash and moved his livestock to my tank. Hes thinking of letting me keep it (he often gives me things as a tank you for holding stuff for him). He actually had 2 before but sold one thinking he was going to keep this one. Now that he got a powder blue he feels its unnecessary. Its a great fish. he probably paid about 60-70 for it but nothing beats free!

Just plumbed in my new jbj Auto Top Off unit. It works great. Its plumbed along my chiller line about 30 feet away through the wall/floor/crawl space/and into the garage.
