What setting do you have on in your camera to get such blue tinted pictures or do you turn on a filter when you crop your pics?

I just set the light setting to Tungsten to get the deeep vivid blue. But the sky was more red actually. Only the most intense reds/oranges were preserved int he Tungsten image as you can see with the side by side comparison.

Do you use that setting even when you take pics of your tank? I'm still a complete newbie for photography and haven't played near enough with my Rebel XTi. I did get a full size tripod the other day so I'm ready to start learning :)

lol. actually I only use the tungsten for artistic shots since they are unnatural. the regular tank photos are just taken at varying times> sometimes only one halide is on so the actinics create a blue hue. Otherwise I use Automatic White Balance> AWB or whichever light setting provides the most true colors> Some fish dont expose well due to their color so you may have to play around with the light settings until the photo comes out right. or you can process with PS afterwards for the same effect. My best advice is to experiment like crazy and things will come naturally in time.

for a 210 I think you are good with the blue tangs. mine get a little pugnacious once and a while to reaffirm their little hierarchy but otherwise get along beautifully

Almost every day like clock work a group of deem come through our yards. They are pretty cool...except for the time one jumped through our window and into our living room....

So how big are your blue tangs? And is that a yellow belly blue tang? Or just lighting. I tried to order one but they were all out already. I just hear that once they get bigger they will fight even if they grew up together. And I want everyone to be happy.

yeah its a yellow belly and id say they are around 4.5-5" each. I mentioned earlier that half of the fish in the tank dont really belong to me> they belong to a friend whose tank crashed when his heater malfunctioned and cooked everything. so they are staying in my tank for now. I am aware of aggession known among groups but for now they are alive and well and thats what counts for now. the LFS I work at may take some of the fish on my hands if customers decide they want some. well see.
