I can see why people hunt deer, rabbit, birds but why in the world would you want to hunt bears? Not sure why, but the idea of killing the animals at the top of the food chain seems strange to me. Do you eat bear? I am no expert but black bears are not the most menancing of animals. It looks as if it's smaller then you, that must have been a hard hunt for you

lol trying to be sarcastic or something......auctually bears are very clever and cunning animals and yes i did eat the bear bear meat is auctually very tastey i love bear burgers.....and it was a small bear only weighing 210 pounds.....and yes it was a hard hunt....i also donated 100 pounds of meat to homeless and needy familys me and my grandfather have feed alot of needy people so im very proud of what we do, so you can talk down on me all you want im very proud to be a hunter i take great pride in what i do nothing on the animal goes to waste and if it wasnt from hunters keeping the animal populations down then they would become a problem the deer population around here is already out of wack its not uncommon to see 3 and 4 dead deer on the side of the road from vechiles and about a month ago there was a woman which had 2 childern in the beack seat thet swerved to miss a deer and hit a telephone pole killing her instantly and injureing the 2 kids so im proud of what i do it makes me feel warm inside knowing that i feed needy people and potentially save someones life by keeping the population in check....and nothing was wasted on the bear the fur was sent of to be tanned so....please dont make rude remarks about things that you really dont know what your talking about....this really got to me i cant beleive how rude that was to me it was rude....but thanks for you time and comment

You are right, it is not uncommon even around here to see dead deer on the side of the road because their populations are out of whack. NOw ask yourself, why is that? Could it be because we have all but wiped out the animals at the top of the food chain? I never said I was against hunting and I don't think there is anything wrong with it. However, it is wrong to kill the animals at the top of the food chain because they help to keep the numbers of other animals in check (a bear might not eat a healthy adult deer but you better bet they will eat Fawns and sick adults). In fact, I bet that bear you bagged would have in the course ot it's life done more to curb the deer population then you.

lol yea thats what i also thought....and black bears do not HUNT deer their diet is 90 % based upon plants lol bear do not hunt deer...sure if they come across a dead carcass they will take advantage of what they find but they cant afford to waste their energey hunting sickened deer....a bear may chase a deer for a mile or 2 and not even catch it wasteing hard earned calories that they NEED to survive the winter bear very rarely hunt and if they do its small animals such as woodchuck...chipmunks....etc very rarely would they hunt and eat deer........bears arent even at the top of the food chain around here its the coyotes now they are the ones that eat the fawns and small deer....very nasty critters

That is half true. With a high powered rifle or bow we are but take those away and we are not. Ask a native who lives in Africa, South America or the East who is at the top of the food chain and they will not say they are...they will say Jaguar, Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Tiger or Croc. Or anyone swimming in the Oceans and Seas of the world, they will say Shark.
Kclester I think you should read this...

jmick that back up everything i said......the Fawns were not the bears main diet....it was 2-5 % of their total diet....the other 2-5 % will be small rodents and the other 90% plants, roots, berries etc......exactly what i said that just backs me up
i think i should know what im talkin about im currently attending MSu may major is Wildlife Management......i just think its funny how you think its so easy and that u think they arent a problem animal do you know how many trashcans that are raided in my neighboorhood every week by bears.....alot so dont tell me they arent a problem....do you know what they do with problem bears they catch them in a huhg pipr trap and kill them....cant release a problem bear back into the wild so this is where the hunters come in to prevent this

A high powered rifle or bow is a man made tool. Therefore YES we are at the top of the food chain and the reason we are is located between our ears. The human brain allows you to think for yourself, be creative and utilize tools. It also allows you to play god with creatures that belong in the reef, yet thrive in your living room in middle america...
