reno- this is awesome for you and your wife
here's a long overdue congrats.
my wife is 8 weeks along with our second. you can see the 1st in my avatar. evetho that was taken many months ago. he'll be 2 in december.
when she was pregnent with the 1st, and had the ultra sound done, we went to see my father (who was adamant about it being a boy) and told him, "sorry dad. it's a girl" his expression was priceless. jaw hit the floor....NOOOOOO!!!!! can't be. has to be a boy. after we lead him on for a few minutes we told him the truth. it was unbelievable to see that altho he was elated about the baby, he was disappointed in a girl. of course he would have loved her and spoiled her just the same........
but i digress. like i said above, #2 is coming along. very different pregnancy this time, maybe it'll be a girl?!?! don't know yet. gotta wait another 8 weeks before a 2nd ultrasound and amnio. then we'll be sure.
again, congrats. and here's to a healthy baby for you and your wife

just found this thread. Congrats!! My first was a girl. At first we were a little down that it wasn't a boy, but that soon changes. We are going to have a boy next. Due date is Jan 31st. Again, congrats and good luck! For all you pregnant gals out there, the reason you should be carefull about eating hotdogs and deli meat is because of listeriosis. It's a bacteria that can be found in unpasteurized foods(milk, juice , cheese), undercooked meat, eggs, fish, deli meats, and bagged salad. Listeria bacteria enters the blood stream and can get to the baby through the placenta. The doctor told me to cook deli meats and hotdogs well if I wanted to eat them.

I didn't hear that about the bagged salad... good to know. Now i'm wondering if the salad at restaurants would be bagged or not--that's the only time i wouldn't have control over it.

I was picking up my daughter from school and this lady near me yells out across the school to a lady who was pregnant saying she did not know she was pregnant, when was she due, boy or girl and what was she going to name it? When the pregnant lady said they were not telling the name the first one bellowed "Don't do Brittany or Megan or Hanna"

I hear you about the horror stories too, why say them?

Anyway enough complaining you need to hear the song "the things we've handed down" by Marc Cohn. It is a song he wrote about his unborn baby. We heard it when my wife was pregnant with our first and it is pretty good.

OH its so pretty!!! I didnt know what I was having so I couldnt paint the room pink! I love the butterflies too! Very cute! I heard "Elaine" is a good name for a girl... ;-)

tsk tsk, i'm sure you remember how difficult it was to bite your tongue when everyone was offering you name ideas... :p
thanks, the room came out quite nice imo and i may just go get that "girly" light fixture :)
the pink MAY be a little TOO pink, but it matches the pink in the border so nicely

Looks really good. I have to admit that border is pretty cool looking.
That is good looking do you have there too.
That glider you have brings back memories. My wife and I spent many hours in our glider feeding or holding our kids.

thanks :) he's my original baby! i wasn't in the room (wifey took the pics) and he was staring longingly at the bathroom (through the wall) because i was in it.
he's a Keeshond, a spitz breed that is pretty well non allergenic.

btw, these are the valances wifey put on her registry.
they should match decently :) then all we have to do is get some blinds or something. we had navy green mini blinds, and they just wouldn't go very well LOL!

those valances are too cute. They will look and match very nicely in the room. Looks great! Now all you need is a baby to put in there.

Had her baby shower last saturday. I'll be honest, i went to it (mainly because i have the truck). I thought a baby shower was all frills and googooing and such. mainly it was a bunch of people (mostly women) eating, drinking, and giving wifey presents LOL. I figured i would sit at the bar with my father in law (my mother in law doesn't drive very much) but it was over before we could hehe.
i even got 2 presents :)
one was a book on how to be the coolest father who knows all the tricks such as removing your finger tip from your finger, and a Finding Nemo bib :)
her cake actually made the baker's website :) its the last one on the right (the buggy) http://dianessweettreats.com/babyshowers2.html

Yeah, I tried the sitting at the bar thing at the baby shower for my son but the wife decided to have me opening presents when she got tired. That is a really cool cake, btw. Best it tasted great.
