I typically get whatever is cheapest at the time except I avoid Coralife and the Bioassay formula of MarineMix.

Reef Crystals is made by the same company as IO.
IO will be fine. If the reef crystals is cheaper then get that one. They are the same salt except Reef Crystals has a little bit more Calcium chloride and Bicarbonate in it.

So far Oceanic salt has been very good to me. After years of using Instant Ocean and dealing with poor or even drastic results, constant inconsistancies in the salt. I just can't make myself purchase another bag or bucket,...never again.

I just ordered a 50 gal bucket for reef crystals on line for 13.49 with no extra weight shipping. They are having a big summer sale.

I would never use IO after seeing Dr. Ron's study.
I think you can get most any brand in a 200g or so bucket.

Go with tropic Marin pro. No documented problems with their lab grade salt
. IO is a waste of time

I have only been in the hobby for 5 months but have found that I get the best results from Kent and Tropic Marin. I will only use those brands from now on. All my parameters are stable with these salts, pH was always low with IO.

I go through a lot of salt with regular partial WCs on a couple big systems, so "I" go for the "cheapest"...whatevers on sale between IO...Reef Crystals and Tropic Marin...
The big warehouse outlet up by me often runs these "inhouse" sales between the brands, so I try to get the Reef Crystals or Tropic when on sale...but usually the IO is the low dog...
Seems like most any brand you choose will have "some" inconsistancies in the basic formula from time to time (due to settling/packaging) but as long as they're not "drastic" (killer ALK, or NO calcium) it really doesn't matter ..My corals don't live in my mixing tank, they thrive in my Main tank..that's where I do my testing and adjusting...
