ok well i have a 20g long as my fuge. but my skimmer dont fit where i want it to. it fits where the fuge is: chaeto, sand and lr.
this is now

can i move everything like below to put the skimmer where the fuge is?

yes and put the skimmer were the fuge is now. In RR they said it will destroy of having a refugium. is that true?

GEE "son" I am not sure I am the right person to answer that...I'll tell you what....ask Joe...he knows a lot about these things. He ( and Spanko) helped me set up mine....

The way you want to put it is to have the water from the display empty into the fuge directly is that correct? I think what they mean is the the flow would disrupt the fuge too much, is that correct?

i really dont get what you mean? like the tubing is gonna stay the same. the only thing thats gonna change is were the fuge is. as you see in my artistic work you can see the fuge in the first chamber were the water comes down.
and in the moddle chamber the skimmer is gonna be there.

Alright yes I see what you mean, what I am asking is why the folks on the other site said that it would destroy the fuge with the new design. Is it because the water coming from the display directly into the fuge would be too intense in flow and would kick up the sand and "destroy" the fuge?

Ok call me crazy I SAID CALL ME CRAZY thank you. Now who said the skimmer needs to be in the sump? As far as my limited brain tells me only the pump need be in the sump if space allows move your skimmer out side the sump and plumb (pvc or tubing) from the pump anywhere you have it in your sump to your external skimmer. Just place the skimmer where the return water from your skimmer dumps back into your sump. Will this work? I guess so considering it is the set up I have in my sump
