What do you think of the tank?

Well, I'm going to be frank here.
This hobby isn't cheap, if you're looking for the cheap way around things, you're going to have lots of issues and dead critters. I say this even more so because you are new to the hobby and don't know you're way around things to do shortcuts.
You need to buy bottled water, buy RO/DI from a LFS or get an RO/DI unit, OR have issues.

Your tank isn't that large, a 4G water change would be a lot, it's not going to cost you a fortune. Honestly, if you can't afford that, or getting an RO/DI unit, you might be in the wrong hobby.

Hmm well I can afford just not all at once. I thought i had to do a complete water change but is 4 gallon i can handle that. I like this hobby but just because of money wise I am not going to stop at this hobby since I came so far already.

No, when you do a water change, you only do 10-30%. Isn't your tank 12 gallons? 4 gallon water change would be 30%. It's not a lot of money when you really break it down.

Distilled is just pure water, its distilled to take out the impurities which you dont want in a reef tank.
If you dont have a mode of transportation, why not see if you can get your parents to help you out and buy a R/O unit online?
I use to buy R/O water by 5gallon jugs, but it gets pretty expensive so I bought a 2stage 24g/day R/O system for $150 Canadian on an online website like SWF. It'll be cheaper since I've noticed alot of the marine hoby supplies and live sotck are alot cheaper in America.

Oh. well my mom is hmm really picky. She doesn't like to add anything she likes to keep everything original. I will see how that goes.

I also came into the hobby with no research on marine reef tanks. You might want to read up on my thread; nanno tanks>katsafados first ver 10g reef tank. There is alot of pictures and alot of the common questions and problems that you'll encounter.
The key thing to remmeber is not to open your wallet to quickly! No matter what the eurdge is, come home and ask qustions about what ever you want to do before doing it!

If your getting R/O water, all you need to do it add a good salt mix. Read the directions on how much salt to add to the volume of water.

I forgot to dechlorinate the water before i add in the salt . Doing a water change. I haven't swtich to RO/ID water yet. Planning to do it after next week or so. Will this cause a problem. I added the prime right after i realize shoot i forgot to add it. Well i boiled the tap water if does anything at all then add the salt. Will this cause any problem since i add the salt first before i dechlorinate?

My opinion....Well...how are your critters? If they are not stressed you have no issues. If you have not yet used the water yet your good so go ahead and use it for the water change, what you put in first salt or dechlorinater really won't matter.

You should be okay, but be more careful from now on. Prime will dechlorinate, BUT, it's best if you do a water change shortly after using Prime.
