A friend just moved from SoCal to Arizona and was amazed that she wasn't having flea issues. She thought maybe it was the time
of the year.
We use Advantage or Revolution on bunnies that we foster that have mites. Our vet doesn't recommend Frontline. Not sure if that's because usually the buns are so debilitated by the time we get them or not.
It seems like we have fleas year round here......BUT I am not moving.....LOL....I am hoping that with the snow we have had it will help this year...

Here in Florida too. Hopefully, this winter got cold enough and stayed that way long enough to take them out!!!!
Whats sad are the feral cats that are everywhere, poor things are so infested.

we dont treat our yard. Having frontline on the dogs and cats is all the protection we need. Every once in a while we will find a flea on the dogs or cats. We get it off, squish it between finger nails, and then check the calender for last treatment date. Our yard is soo small that treating it wouldnt take much. However, we have dogs on all sides of our back yard and it would make no sense to treat our back yard when the fleas could go around to the front yard, LOL.

I have been wanting to answer this for days but wqs unable to due to unforseen circumstances....acts of god...and so on.
I do NOT recomend any of these products. Stop and think about it. The active bug killing pyrthrin in bug killing yards sprays is 4 percent. The active repellent ingredient in bug sprays for human skin is 19 percent at the highest. The products list by everyone in this thread average 50 percent or higher. Would you coat yourself with 50 percent pyrithrin...a classified poison? Your children? So why your dog?

We all have opinions about what will work/not work and 'toxicity' associated with various products. However, your use of percentages to make your point is not valid. Sure 50% active ingredient sounds like a lot of chemical....but that is 0.5-2ml volume placed on one spot on the skin that them dissipates over the entire body....much less than 50% once dispersed. The yard powder at 4% and sprays at 19% (percentages you put forward) are not put in one spot but all over your yard or skin.
I agree that the Biospot (permetrin) products just don't work any more. Most bugs have developed resistence to them.
I feel very comfortable using Frontline (plus), Advantix, Comfortis, etc. on my own dogs.
