Just out of curiosity...why bother asking the question if when you don't get the answer you want...you ignore it

Fresh and salt tanks are like night and day.....

Common sense should prevail on the tank issue. There will be too much weight and stress on those two ends, it's just silicone and plastic. The purpose of a stand is to distribute the weight, therefore the stress evenly, without a weak spot, it will maintain the weight. This is why we also level our tanks, keeping the weight even.

Please report back. I am now curious as to where it will blow first. I think the seals will pop on the sides. My son thinks it will split in half like the Titanic.

Every newbie, even the long term reefers, have questions. We are all here to share our opinions and knowledge. One way to rub a group wrong is to ask a question, get an genuine answer, then decide to do your own thing anyhow. Know it alls who know nothing really make you not even want to respond.

Freshwater and saltwater are complete opposites, absolutely no comparison.

Trust me...it's been done. That's why anyone who knows any better knows not to try and support a tank by supporting it unevenly across the across the bottom. It might not break right away...but sooner or later it will fail.

Maybe we should start a thread with a poll

how long till it bursts....LOL

Sorry Wayner, but you have been given some good advice, and chosen to question it, do everything but what you have been advised. Very frustrating

I put my money on it cracking at the pressure points.

I'd move whatever piece of electronics is on the bottom of the stand. Simply filling it is no victory Sparkie, but each second is taxing the limits of the structure, give it time. Oh, and I wouldn't slam any doors or windows.

I simply don't understand why you are so insistant in pushing the barriers. This is not a hobby for someone who isn't sincere in their desire to learn.

Wonder where it will fail. Will the ends or the sides blow out? Will the bottom crack?

I'm following as well. I think the bottom is going to crack first.

Let's see what happens when sand and rock get added. I almost feel like we're playing the "when's the baby due" pool at the office with this guy.

Hi,

Dump out the water, as soon as you put sand which weighs about 60 pounds, and 40 pounds of rock it will break...However I have a solution!

Go to Home depot and get a THICK Piece of wood that your tank will fit on, leaving even an inch larger will be best, I once had a concrete planter and although it was sturdy enough it was 7 inches too small for my 75g. SOOO I got a piece of wood, and painted it black (to match my tank rims) placed it on the concrete and put my tank on top. It creates a T look but it plenty sturdy enough to hold the tank.

Your stand is only 9 inches short of large enough so this MIGHT work depending on the strength of the stand. At least my way you have the possibility of success…IF you have not already compromised the tank by filling it on a small stand.

Oh and for the record, jumping right in a doing your own thing shows all of us here who are trying to help you, that you are hard headed and do things your own way. You also exhibit an inability to be patient, since you didn’t WAIT for a solution. I hope you change your attitude or you won’t be in the hobby long, your tank success is going to be largely due to patients and the ability to follow instructions from those in the know, from personal experience from others or books you read. Okay..I'm off the soapbox now.
