So I come home from my last day of school, and I find THESE! What in the world are they??
The only thing I've added to my tank lately is two corals but I really think they came in on the gracilia (sp?). But I put the gracilia in tap water for 10 minutes, so I didnt think these kinds of things would survive! These are in a very low flow area of my quarantine tank, in the corner of one of the those floating freshwater breeding container things. I can't explain how they move very well, so here's the video.
Are these bad? They are about 1-2mm in diameter :( I'm so worried!

I thought hydroids lived in little tubes attached to rocks?
Oh also, either I really like one side of the "breeder" or they like the light

Thanks guys, I've been doing a little reasearch too and I'm pretty sure they are those, but mine has a small difference, they have to "mass" under them like a jelly fish, they are flat, are they still the same thing? Should I take them out?
You know, I do have quite a few hydroids in that same little container, they are on a rock with yellow polyps on it, and I put them in there so my peppermint shrimp wouldn't eat the yellow poylps. If I have to take them out, then I'm gladd they seem to only be in the little "breeder" I've sucked out about 50, going to look at them under my microscope :)

I sucked out all that I could see, I'll probably go back later and suck out some more, but at least now I can enjoy my first day of summer break

Thank you! I'm glad I could learn something new!

Thanks :) You know what's kinda funny, is I'm excited for summer cause I can stare at my aquarium longer and don't have to worry about homework, and that I might be able to work at my LFS for a few hours a week (and get a discount!)
Haha normal teens are excited for summer because of parties and sleeping in, but I guess that's part of the addiction!

That is SO cool. Doesn't look like the "common" hydroids we run into..... but I'm sure there are many species. Seahorses peeps run into these guys all the time.
Can I save your video to my photobucket?
