Purchased this beautiful Zoanthid rock last night from a local specialty store, since it was a perfect addition to my coral reef tank. This afternoon, upon taking photos of them, I stumbled upon a stubby rose colored baby anemone hiding between some of the new coral, and it doesn't seem to be harming them either. After examining it, I found that it looked most like a bubble-tip anemone, since it didn't compare to the looks of the Aiptasia that I have in my tank (both baby and adult, which will be long gone tonight when I put in my new peppermint shrimp). It has much more tentacles, and those tentacles are much more fat also. The color is completely different, it is more of a dark-rose colored. Also, the tips of it are even more fat than the tentacles themselves, almost like a bubble or a bulb. I may be wrong though, due to the fact I've only been messing with corals and anemones for about a year now.
I'm excited, because I would very much love a good anemone-- yet nervous because I got this feeling that it's not the good kind.
The big question is, what is this anemone? Is it safe? HELP!
This is the best picture I could shoot of it. Circled.
