Niagra Falls, Canada is pretty cool and there's alot of stuff to do. There are tons of shops, a casino, restaurants/bars, and other activities all within walking distance of each other. Plus the exchange from US to Canadian makes stuff cheaper for us so that rocks, unless you win money at the casino, then you get about 1/2 of what you won when you exchange it to American money. If you have never been I'd say it's worth it, I grew up about 3 hours from it and after about the 10th time there it's kinda boring but if you've never been before it's pretty cool!! here's some info: http://www.niagarafallstourism.com/default.html

Hey thanks to everyone who has put their input in. ClarkiiBoi, I would look into the Poconos, but I actually went to HS and college in that area. I used to go skiing there when I lived in PA, so I want to try to go somewhere I have never been (it is a very cool place though). NYyankeees, the more I look into it the cooler Niagara Falls sounds. Thanks for the links.

If you are into Wine tasting you can head up to Lake Tahoe and see if they offer a "daily package" to go to Napa County (Wine Country, also where I got my DUI and about 15 minutes from where I live).
Lake Tahoe is a beutiful place and renting a boat and tearing up the lake is also fun (also try para-sailing if you are into that kinky type stuff :))

I'm in Clay actually, just on the outskirts of North Syracuse, off Route 11, past the Penn Can Mall not far from RT31 and Great Northern Mall.

OK since I actually went there I guess I should tell you what we did. Well we got married in the days before the internet so we did not have access to all the information you young kids have these days. What we did was go to Niagara Falls for a couple of days then the rest of the time just drove around Canada looking at stuff. I honestly could not tell you where we went because it was just a wake up and drive north for awhile type of trip. However I do know when we took the maid of the mist boat, that takes you up to the falls, there are 2 boats one leaves from the Canada side and one leaves from the American side. The one from the Canada side was literally packed full and the one from the American side had 5 people on it, including us. Keep in mind that was also the days before the internal combustion engine was invented so it was probably easier to row the boat with all those people on the boat.

We went to the finger lakes. (Central NY) There are little parks for every gorge and waterfall leading into the lakes, boating and swimming, a great historic mansion with gardens (Sonnenberg Gardens) and it's also wine country if that interestests you.
If you go there, you definately want to tackle Watkins Glen early, before your hiking muscles get sore. It's a beautiful, romantic glen, but there is alot of climing to do. Many of the other good places have scenic overlooks so you don't have to wear yourself out to see the sights.
I don't see the point of starting out marriage with a big debt load from an extravagant honeymoon. Unless someone is giving you the trip as a gift, stick to something simple. Each other is the main attraction after all, and that's free!

Scotts, thanks for the details. I was looking at the website NYyankeees provided on Niagara and I guess they have an aquarium there, which is always a plus :) ! I thought about a cruise, but I have heard from people that went on them for a honeymoon and they said it can be hard some alone time with your partner besides in your little room. Anyone have this problem who went on one?
