Rae, it sounds like you've been around the block as far as tanks go! (Darth, keep yer comments clean!)
Do you have any old shots of the big guns hiding around on the forums?
And of course, an arrangement might be possible come the holidays. You realize we're gonna have to have a cookie bake-off, now.
I'm sure Richard will be happy to judge.
That's a good question....who here is going to DFW MACNA? I'm not...too far away.... so I'm bummed. I can't BELIEVE I missed the one in Orlando 2010, but I was just too darned busy to go at the time.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Maybe the rumors for 2013 will prove true and it will be hosted in Tampa. THAT would be perfect; I'll grab all my east coast reefers and drag them over to meet Florida Joe, Theresa, and the others over there.
I couldnt find any pictures on the forum.
It occurs to me that i am also not very good with a camera. And I have had a lot of Fish tanks.
the first large one (from the pic where I'm in it) was set up as a reef. I really liked the size and all but it was hard becasue it was too deep and it was on the same circuit as our TV in the main room. Everytime we watched TV, the tank and lighting blew the breaker. That had to go. so we set it up as a swim tank. That was cool, so then I really liked the swim tank but I was not experienced enough to keep such large fish. That became difficult. So we sold it.
Than we move on to the first 48. This was some random system that was purchased of CL probably and it was THE BEST SYSTEM. I actually regret not just stowing that in the garage for a rainy day. Whoever put this random stuff together did a GREAT job. Miss it :-/
I had great success with minimal cheap lighting and great flow without a lot of supplement from koralias. I had it set up in out home office and I made a horrible mistake of shutting the flow off for maintenance and forgot it was off for about 13 hours. I killed a few of the fish. That was horrible. I'm going to hell for all the fish I've killed
This was it in it's early stages when it was first set up but it looked great about a year later. I can't find any FTS shots of it but I have a lot of the blossoming corals. They were happy... along with all the stock... before I was an idiot.
I had a biocube too, forgot about that. Everyone here liked them so much and I loved some peoples and totally thought that was the way to go... It wasn't. traded it to my mom for a Current Cardiff that I have now. love that tank. It's been great.
After the 48 fiasco, I ordered the monster. It was so $$$$ and I couldn't really get nuts with it like I wanted in the end
. Had to start cutting corners and stuff... but it was nice while it was set up. Had my Foxface in there forever and raised it from a baby. Came home one day and It was dead. I was so tired of this big tank and my favorite fish and the only one who was too big to go in a little tank, my 5ish inch foxface was died. So I ripped it down and had it sold that weekend. It was cool though. Cool concept if I lived in a house with a floor plan where it could be appreciated more.
Now I have the 60 solana and the Cardiff.
